Jered had gotten incredibly drunk over the course of the evening. He had intended on being on his best behavior. But, he was kissing the other person and didnât want to stop.
âWould you like to try a little bit? Itâs just come out of the oven. So it is a bit hot.â

âI never said heâd be able to do it although if Derby managed it I might be too impressed to be annoyed with Philip about it,â he said laughing as well.  âYou suppose Iâm right? Are we in an alternate reality? You used to always be the one having to drag me out places. Come on you need a night out away from work to have fun. Well Friday or Saturday night would probably be our best bets if you want to meet other people and thatâll be when places are most interesting.â
âThat would be something that I would need to see.â He replied. âI donât know. I just havenât felt like going out and partying, lately. I know I know. Itâs very strange of me and very unlike me. But, maybe itâs time for a change. It hasnât served me well in the past. Perhaps, I should try something different.â

âWell authentic French food from someone whoâs French is probably better than other places and you probably have some stupid gimmick that brings people in too.â
âA stupid gimmick? I do not think I have one of those, monsieur.â

âEt si je te veux?â She cocked her head to the side. She knew what she wanted, she always had. But she didnât want to put herself out there if he was done for good. âDo I deserve that?â
He was genuinely surprised to hear that she still wanted him. She had been talking about going out and dating just a few minutes ago. He had thought that the door was closed. Not that he wanted it to be. He had just assumed that it was. âDo you? I mean...still want me?â

âOoo, a french restaurant?â she raised an eyebrow. âThat sounds intriguing. Is it fancy? Too fancy for me to get into?â she half-joked. Terk was no fancy lady that was for sure, not without trying. âI guess weâll just have to see how it plays out.â
âI am sure that you could get in if you wanted to.â He laughed, lightly. âWe will have to see.â Jered agreed.

âBy many, non? You make this place feel a little more like home. Good grief, I miss Villeneuve. Donât you?â
âOui, oui.â He replied, with a smile upon his features. He definitely missed it back home and that was why he had brought the food from home to where they are. âI believe we may be the only ones who miss home, though.â

âYou have a restaurant?â she asked, âThatâs really neat. What restaurant?â Turk inquired once more. Itâd have to be a place sheâd visit. âBut thatâs cute.. Finding love..â Turk nodded as she thought about the sentiment. âFinding love is definitely one of those will or wonât happen kind of things.â
âI do! A french restaurant. Itâs called Le Coin Des Amants â He replied, offering a friendly smile. âI agree. I am unsure if love is in the cards for me or not.â

âA new year means you can set resolutions to just be disappointed in yourself later when you break them. I suppose as long as your mood is good now, that doesnât matter much, huh?â
âI suppose not. But, arenât there some who actually follow through on the resolutions?â

âI guess it would be. Hopefully he wonât get to the point where he tries to teach the dog their national anthem or something else crazy,â he replied laughing.  âYouâre going through a rut? I canât believe Iâm saying this to you but you need to go out and have some fun. Maybe Friday, no no that would be a bad night for you wouldnât it? Okay some night that you wouldnât be too busy at the restaurant we go out, get drinks, and have fun.â
âThat would have to be one talented pooch to play the national anthem.â He laughed, lightly. âI suppose you are right. There is nothing wrong with going out and trying to meet some new people.â He paused, considering the offer. âI can make it work any night that you want to, mon ami.â

âWhat arenât you certain of, mon cher?â She wondered if he ever was certain. âI am young but I am not good at being single for very long. My heart is too big for that.â She winked at him. âMy passion is too great for me to just give it all to one thing. I know dance is my first love, but I am finally ready to let myself love another. I think I deserve it.â
âIf I am ready to get back into dating or not.â He admitted, having found it harder than he had ever thought to entirely move on. Sure, he flirted with people here and there. But, nothing serious had happened since they had ended. âYou do. You deserve everything that you want.â

âWell thatâs a relief to hear,â Randall replied not caring if he sounded completely rude or not.  âNew Yorkers tend to just like good food no matter where itâs from, just look at all the different types of restaurants in the city.â
âWell, that is true. They do enjoy eating out. But, I also like to think thereâs something special about my restaurant.â
bellexcherie
âIt means Iâm going to pay less attention to the scales and more to your incredible souffle. At least, I think it does.â
âThat sounds like a good idea to me. But, I am biased as they say because I want my food to be enjoyed often.â
revolutionaryboggs
âIf itâs a phrase or two no but if itâs a full blown conversation you might be needing to get some help. No I take that back you need to get some help if you do,â he answered not caring if he offended the other man or not.  âYeah at least I wonât be starving by the time I go back to work. That seems preferable actually, you never really have a slow income period.â
âBut of course. I do not have full conversations with myself.â He replied, understanding how that could come off odd. âI suppose that is true. It is usually pretty busy at the restaurant. I have been very fortunate that the people want to enjoy good French cuisine.â

âHe named it after some place in Britain. I swear one day Iâm gonna come home and see the dog wearing a sweater with their flag on it,â he said shaking his head and smiling.  âThanks. Thatâs it? It was good? You had a quiet Christmas? Come on something exciting must have happened, this is you weâre talking about.â
He laughed lightly. âWell, that would be quite the look. Dare I say that it would be rather adorable?â He offered. A shrug of his shoulders followed at the question. Heâd had an uneventful Christmas and New Years. âYou would think something exciting would have happened. But, no, it was very boring and out of the ordinary for me.â
concretejungleartist
âI like the outlookâ Terk nodded with a grin. âAny specific hopes for the new year?â
âI would like for my restaurant to continue to do well and potentially to find love. But, that is something that will either happen or it wonât.â
mia-honey-lemon
âThatâs perfect logic.â she said with a nod. âOh god no. I burnt pasta into a brick. Iâm much better at chemicals and any other kind of science, really.â
âBurnt pasta into a brick? Oh no. That does sound awful.â He admitted, a hand running through his hair. âChemicals? Like what? And if you ever want to learn to cook without burning your pasta? I am available for lessons.â
