God, sorry, stupid question to ask.
Yeah... that’s not a very good question, and it’s one that I’ve answered a lot. No, I’m not.

dukexrossi:
What happened? Did she have some kind of episode? It doesn’t make sense.
Someone overheard our conversation at the bar and called a mental hospital, they came and took her away. That’s all I know.
joelxharvey:
I’m not letting you sit here all alone, Toby. It’s a sorry sight.
You expect me to be any other sight than ‘sorry’? You don’t need to sit with me just because I look pitiful.
audreyxfabray:
You took too long, where have you been?
Everywhere, nowhere, being a pain in the ass to our favorite people. Typical Fabray shit.
andrewxxjones:
Oh – sorry, you just looked… upset. But I can go, sorry.
No... it’s fine, you’re fine. You don’t have to go anywhere.
joelxharvey:
Joel picked up the piece of paper with the scrolled license plate number as he listened, the wheels in his mind grinding away exponentially. If they managed to track down the van and connect it to the hellhole Robin stashed the girl in, there was no telling how long that will take to release Soph and bring her home safely. The clock was ticking and the more time passed, the greater the chance the Mayor possessed to further cover her tracks. Most psychiatric hospitals legally offered 72 hour holds once the person in question was committed, but nothing stopped Robin from extending the stay to cause suffering for both Detlings. She was already proving dangerous, ruthless, more than he thought her capable of. Joel took a moment to share his response, instead lifting the phone to his ear and dialing the department he required. He recited the plate, asking to put this on a rush or else, before putting the phone back on the receiver. “You and I both know Sophia’s not going to be the same when she comes out of this. If she’s at where I think she is, they’re pumping your sister full of drugs right now. She’ll be out of it, angry, scared, and she’ll want you more than anyone.” He threaded his fingers in front of him, “I won’t force her to give testimony, Toby. I refuse to take away her decision again. Yours will be polarizing enough.”
Toby listened and watched the Sheriff work, never really seeing what the job entailed until now; he never had a reason to step into the station until that day. If he had the mental capacity to smile, Tobias would have at Joel’s urgency in getting the plates ran. He felt for that moment that he wasn’t alone in his the fight, at least the time being. Tobias attempted to open his mouth and speak in reply, but no words came out; he could only imagine the hell that his sister was going through, that Robin was putting her through. He shook his head and cleared his throat, “I know. I’m going to be there for her... I always have been.” His eyes lifted to Joel as he nodded in gratitude, “thanks, Joel. I’ll do whatever I can to help, especially for my sister to feel some semblance of safety with Robin going away.”

Someone overheard her talking at the bar and instead of consulting me, called a mental facility. Still trying to figure out where she was taken.
dukexrossi:
Is it true? About your sister?
If you’re talking about her being abducted from my front lawn and taken to god knows where, then yes.
aidenxbennett:
Oh, fuck, I don’t want to get Maddox in trouble. Elliot scares me and I’d rather stay on her good side.
Everyone should stay on her good side if they know what’s good for them. I feel like I’m the only one that’s not scared of her, and I will consider that my super power.
margoxhansen:
Seems to be. I’m sorry for before, about butting in, by the way. I just think Drew really liked being in your company and I’m happy he spent time with people that aren’t his roommates.
It’s fine, Margo, no harm in it really. You’d also be surprised by how many people he actually talks to– he’s always been a social one.
andrewxxjones:
Drew smiled widely when Toby took a napkin and started to write his number down. On the inside, Drew was fist pumping out of excitement. He took the napkin and folded it gently before placing it in his shirt pocket. “Yeah, that’s a great idea. I’ll message you later so you can have mine too.” He listened to Toby talk, something he was certain he could do for hours. Toby was just so… interesting. He had so much knowledge stored inside of him, random facts that Drew found extremely interesting. He liked that Toby had travelled and knowledge, it was something very attractive to him. He blushed sheepishly at his mistake, but kept his attention on Toby. “That does sound interesting. You’re only proving my point about your intelligence,” he teased and just as he was going to say more his phone buzzed. Drew looked down at it, reading the message as his face shifted from surprise to disappointment. “Oh crap.” He looked at Toby sent him an apologetic look, “I forgot I was waiting for my friend to finish work, I need to walk them home. Will you be okay getting home? I can come back if you need… or you can come with me if you want?”
Tobias smiled in acknowledgement, actually looking forward to getting the text later. He could imagine the look on Lo’s face when he tells her that tidbit, and he was half tempted to keep it to himself so she didn’t make it out to be so much more than it was. Toby almost balked at being called interesting, the text message that Drew received thankfully saving him from being a bashful blubbering mess. It wasn’t often he came across people who heard him talk about what he did in school and was actually interested. Toby cocked his head at the disappointment that he saw flash across Andrew’s face, his own gaze falling to the watch on his wrist. “I...” he began, but stopped short. He knew he had a lot of things to do for work and his sister to look out for but Toby ended up nodding, “I’ll go with you, just as long as I’m not intruding on anything.” After all... he was actually having fun.
joelxharvey:
As rough and tough of an exterior Joel presented to the world, but hearing the fondness in Toby’s tone recounting something his sister said tugged at his heart more than he care to examine. He’s had a few run-ins with Soph, namely responding to calls about some drunken disorderliness, nothing he wouldn’t harmlessly let slide. Joel would only take his word on the male’s memory, knowing they’d be putting that to the test when they ran the license number. Robin was dancing circles around him ripping Sophia and Toby apart knowing the Sherriff couldn’t do anything when the law’s circumstances were on the woman’s side. Soon, that wouldn’t exist. “A storm’s brewing, isn’t the first time I described it that way, but it’s one hundred percent true.” Joel dropped his gaze to his clasped hands, “The only reason I’m telling you this is because what you witnessed could help land a striking blow to Robin’s end.” He paused briefly, “I can’t divulge who’s all involved, Toby, but bits and pieces of evidence are being collected so our goody good mayor lives out the rest of her days in lock up. Now,” Joel leaned back contemplatively, “If you want in on the action, it’s possible we would need your sister’s testimony paired with yours. That’s all your decision, however.”
Tobias Detling was not what you described as an alpha male. He very much went with the tide and never wanted to ruffle feathers. Toby cared too much for strangers, especially his students; taking their pain onto him but there was one thing that he held higher than anything, and it was his sister. She was his only blood family left, someone who he needed to look after and protect. He’d moved back to a town he had hoped to leave behind and eventually take his sister away from, for her. Having her ripped away from him was the biggest blow to him, but what the mayor didn’t realize was that he’d fight tooth and nail for Sophia. Tobias Detling would burn Robin’s foundation to the ground if it meant getting Soph back and keeping her away from Robin. As the sheriff spoke, he was taken aback about there being others involved to warrant collecting evidence to take down the mayor, but he instantly knew what he needed to be a part of it. “I can give a testimony any day, but I don’t know about my sister. This... whole thing could damage her beyond return, break her,” he whispered, looking at his hands as he remembered her face as the doors of the van closed. Everyone thought she was a strong girl on the outside, but he knew better; she was broken and already held together by duct tape. “I don’t know how it’s going to be with her, if she’ll give a testimony, until Soph’s back with me.”
nathanxfinley:
My mother was only doing what she thought was best for a young girl she could see was spiraling out of control. She would’ve done the same for Grey.
I’m sorry you see it that way. Sometimes, family blinds us, Toby. Someone explicitly heard Soph give verbal confirmation that she was willing to hurt herself at a bar. She needed serious help.
Except she doesn’t know what’s right for my sister– I do. What your mother did was put Sophia ten steps back in her recovery. If she was willing to hurt your sister in the way I know she hurt mine, that’s your problem.
I had it covered and you had no right. Just as you have no right to come in here and give me half-assed condolences. Leave, I don’t want you here; don’t make me call someone to remove you from my property for trespassing.
nathanxfinley:
I hope I never do either. Toby, I don’t enjoy this method anymore than you do, but I just wanted you to know that my mother assured me she was safe.
You think I give a shit what your mother has assured? She’s a hypocrite, and my sister won’t be safe until she’s back with me.
You both are hypocrites– family doesn’t matter to either one of you unless it’s your own.
nathanxfinley:
I heard about what happened with Sophia. From one brother to another, it’s heartbreaking.
Heartbreaking isn’t even half of it, Nathan, and for your sake I hope you never feel it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m not in the mood.

To others, antiques are dusty old trinkets not worth spending money on, but they’re priceless treasures meant to be coveted to us. It never fails I feel like Indiana Jones searching for the lost Ark. I do, however, have a few goodies in this shipment you’ll love sinking your teeth into.
No one truly wants to take the time to learn the histories of such items, but it’s my favorite thing to think about.
You do have my interest peaked.
joelxharvey:
Joel had seen this before, the family of a loved one who was missing reacted differently to the situation, some violently lashed out and the devastation washed over others to a point where they could hardly stand on their own two feet. He watched Toby finally take a seat, knowing what was running through the young man’s mind. “It isn’t like what you see in a television show, Toby, shit takes time. Since we’re dealing with a missing person, I could get the request bumped up the list. That takes…a maximum of 48 hours if your memory is as good as you think it is.” Joel pushed the form in front of the other, immediately nudging a notebook closer to him as soon as Toby described his interaction with Robin. There was nothing but the sound of the sheriff scribbling and the Detling’s voice filling the room for a long minute, a realization dawning on him that he and Maddox had another one. Another strike against the mayor. This could work for the case, but first, finding Sophia was his main priority. “Alright, no, you’re not going to do that. You aren’t going to blame yourself. This is Robin, Toby. She wants you frazzled, she wants you scared and distracted. Soph doesn’t need that.” He gave the teacher a hard stare, “When I find your sister and I will, I’m going to give you a way to more than just sue her ass.”
Tobias could only nod as the sheriff spoke. He knew that not everything was how it was on TV, but it didn’t mean that he could brush aside the anxiety he felt. The farther him and Sophia got apart, the more hopeless Toby felt– it felt like ants were roaming under his skin with every passing second and he couldn’t help but bounce his leg to rid himself of the feeling. Tobias let out a rueful laugh that turned into something of a sob, “Sophia always said I have the memory of an elephant. My memory is good, Joel.” His ocean eyes lifted to Joel, frowning as the man attempted to stop his thought process. The guilt ate at him, it could have been avoided if he just did what the mayor wanted but she didn’t give him enough time. Tobias didn’t know what he was supposed to do in the meantime if not be frazzled and distracted, but he nodded. He quirked a brow at the last bit, “what do you mean give me a way to do more than sue? At this point, I can take as much as I can get.”
