Tobias The Ferret

Videos and pics of all things Tobias. Sometimes our pup makes an appearance too. Tobias: Born November 2009, adopted on Valentine's day 2010 in upstate NY. He was the standard sable ferret. Today he lives in Switzerland and has gone through a major color change! No longer the dark sable he once was.

#FerretPics After a week of terrible weather, the sun has reappeared. The grass is newly cut and Tobias is enjoying the outdoors.

#FerretPics Our houseguest has gone back to her home. While she was here though, I used a little trick I learned from petting zoos. I used a baby gate, raised slightly off the ground to give Tobias a private space. Beyond that gate is his playroom. The raised baby gate keeps the big dog out of the room and gives Tobias the freedom to come and go as he wishes. Of course, this also causes sulking dogs. ;)

#FerretPIcs Things between Tobias and our house guest are going swimmingly well. She really wants to play with Tobias and Tobias is getting used to a dog her size. 

Before anyone questions the safety of my ferret and a large dog, I’d just like to remind everyone I am an animal behaviorist by profession. So I knew what dangerous signals to notice. This dog shows no predatory or “chase” signals. I was relieved to see Tobias did not trigger any. :)
