I’m so sorry that I’m still in a position where I have to ask for help. But I am. I’m an unemployed transgender woman living in wildly conservative Orange County, CA. I had to leave my job because of consistent transphobic and sexual harassment. It’s a hard and stressful time, and I’m so broke that I don’t know how I’m going to keep paying for groceries, let alone medication, therapy for cptsd and depression, paying off the phone I had to buy after my old one stopped charging. Tbh I think fandom generally needs to get better at sitting with the uncomfortable fact that a story/fanwork/meme/whatever can hurt one person and help another

This is why I think “tag warning” culture is kinder and more constructive than cancel culture / “no problematic content” culture. One size does not fit all, but if we learn to be more aware of the fact that the same thing can be emotionally validating or cathartic to one person and upsetting to another, and pick up a general mindset of thinking before we post, “what might people need a heads up for in this content?”, we grow more compassionate, more thoughtful, and more understanding of the differences in people’s experiences.

The way season 4 set up the whole mystery that the Upside Down was stuck on the day Will went missing, then season 5 establishing that Will actually had powers and had unknowingly built the tunnels, only for the upside down being stuck as Hawkins on that date to have no meaning related to Will not his mindscape, nothing.

I thought the upside down froze in time on that day bc that’s when it was created? Isn’t it just bc that’s when El made contact and the og portal opened? Then I figured that’s the day Will got taken bc that’s when Henry could make a move finally, and he just didn’t waste time. Will was alone at night and like, opportunity or whatever.

Not saying the plot is bulletproof, or that I loved the final season (rushed and sloppy writing for sure), but I’m seeing a lot of stuff about “plot holes” that I can easily explain by inferring things based on the series as a whole, or just remembering shit from early seasons.
