Imagine being claustrophobic and you get reincarnated into ravioli filling that would fucking suck
affirmations they will not kill me at work today. it is not in my job description to get killed. if they did kill me at work that would be weird and probably not worth it for them
i think the key difference between george lucas’s star wars and disney’s star wars is that lucas is a man with an ideology. someone with a point of view, and all that entails. which comes with ideas of revolution, anti-imperialism, challenging the status quo, cultural appropriation and racist stereotypes. complex and contradictory ideas because that’s how artists are: complex and complicated people. disney is not. disney is a corporation. a corporation can’t have ideology, because ideology defeats the purpose of profit. and when the only thing you do is to turn on the movie manufacturing machine before you sit down and plan what ideas are you trying to convey to the audience, then your results are going to be washed out corporate garbage. and because when you’re a giant corporation who only cares about selling to the widest audience possible, you can’t take sides. you can’t decide on an idea. because you want to sell your product to people who are on the entire political spectrum. which results in movies without ideology, without purpose, without soul.
I have been looking for this post for years after I came across it and it’s finally here and I need to reblog this because it is absolutely and entirely accurate.
#as I always say: lucas was making a samurai film and a ww2 flying ace film and a western film and adding laser swords#because he fundamentally LIKED samurai films and dambusters films and westerns and 40’s adventure serials#but disney are making a ‘star wars film’ and adding nothing because it already had laser swords and they have nothing else to say#xerox of a xerox baybeeeee (via harrietvane)
dont trace reference images. dont even LOOK at reference images. in fact, don't ever look at anything that exists in the world, in person or in photos or in videos, even when you're not drawing, because you will still be able to use the memories of what something looks like as a reference when you're drawing it later. yes that includes yourself. destroy all the mirrors in your house. don't look down at your hands or feet. don't look. close your eyes. close them tight. forget everything. it's okay, embrace the darkness. just forget.
op turned off reblogs but also i respect that they turned them off for a reason but i still want the post here so i removed their name
It's always "the Jedi failed at this," "Anakin should've done that," and never "Darth Sidious is so good at his job, he deserves to get Sith Lord of the month."
To be fair, while he's often quite good at his job, it's easy to get Sith lord of the month when there are only 2 Sith lords.
Two? Don't you mean one and a half Sith lords?
a very happy pride month to juhani from knights of the old republic, star wars’ first queer character and one of - if not the first - positive portrayals of a lesbian woman in a video game!!
thinking abt how before i knew i was transmasc i would always see transfemmes and go
"who the fuck would actually want to be a girl? like if anything i'd want to be a guy. people can be whoever and whatever they want but people who wanna be girls are wrong."
hm. wondering why i thought that.

Sometimes I feel joy and then I remember the fact that Fives died not knowing Echo was alive and the fact that someone would have had to tell Echo that Fives was killed and that Rex had to go through the pain of believing they were both dead and then the horror of finding Echo on Skako Minor and then I consider underage drinking

(Spoiler Warning for Umbara and the first arc of Season 6 of TCW)
Sometimes, I think about how Tup's very first campaign was Umbara. This shiny had just graduated from his cadet class, maybe stood at an outpost for a small second, and then was added to the Torrent Company. He was probably still excited to finally join his brothers out on the field. And his first experience was Umbara. With Krell. LIke before Anakin leaves, Umbara still sucks. It's a terrible battlefield, the Umbarans have dangerous technology, it's dark, unknown, and all around sucky. Once Krell is in charge, there is an unending slaughter of clones. Tup is seeing just pure carnage of his dead brothers all around, and as far as he knows, his older brothers are certain that all of the casualties were unneeded and avoidable. If Krell hadn't ignored Rex's advice, his brothers could still be alive.
Fast forward to Five's and Jesse's court marshaling. Fives kind of took Tup under his wing (his new buddy after he lost Echo), he's been everywhere with Tup so far during the arc. So for Tup to have to line up and point his blaster at the brother he looks up the most must have been sickening. And then to have to imprison the other shiny he joined with (Dogma), this kid has been through it.
All of this to end up in a firefight with other clones. At the order of Krell. He probably killed at least one of his brothers. Thats horrific. Yes, Krell gets what's coming to him in the end (thanks Dogma), but he caused so much trauma before his death, that the end of Krell doesn't feel like a victory, not a breath of fresh air, not a sigh of relief. It's a stalemate of horror and fear. How could someone hate clones so much, that he caused the senseless slaughter of so many brothers without any remorse? Yes, he's gone now, but that doesn't fix everything that happened.
And to talk about my final point, Tup's death. Tup has been with the 501st for a little bit, and by this point he's pretty used to what goes on in the war. This was a relatively simple campaign, but Tup has this terrible headache. Who cares? It's just a headache. I'm sure the clones got headaches every once in awhile due to the conditions of war: stress, dehydration, lack of nutrients, etc. But for Tup, he suddenly has no control over his actions, "Good soldiers follow orders"
What's the most heartbreaking part for me, is that Tup is not a very "important" character. He's not an ARC trooper, he isn't the most experienced, he doesn't have knowledge that no one else has, he is simply your "run of the mill" clone. He's a kid that is fighting in a war with the best of his abilities. He doesn't have any out of the ordinary skills, which I think is what makes him so extraordinary. He has managed to stay alive. In war that has claimed half a million lives at least, Tup has managed to keeping living. This is why Tup's death is so gut wrenching for me. After everything he lived through, his end was due to a technological malfunction. A fluke. His only solace in the end being that he was with Fives, and he knew the nightmare was over. He was free to rest peacefully.
I just think about him a lot
i love this video so much one time i got high and watched it on a loop and it made me cry
