          yeah, he had chosen laura, which might’ve been a stupid decision on his part since she cheated on him anyway. but then again, hadn’t he been doing the same with shelly ?? “well, sometimes we make mistakes audrey. but i think going to the diner would be a wonderful idea. just you and me. we could CATCH UP.”

          “i have no idea. i just wish i could be more help to agent cooper, you know ??” but she really had no idea what was going on. and things just seemed to be going from bad to worse for her. bobby was distant, she was worrying about her husband being on the loose and ready to try for a third time to end her life. and now, she might possibly be in danger even further with this mysterious man.

agent cooper .  his concern brought her a profound HAPPINESS &. also a profound SADNESS that it wasn’t exclusive. nonetheless, audrey wanted more than anything for the three of the girls to be safe .

stranger.

             Stretched out before the mortician were the partly scribbled in boxes of the newspaper’s crossword. He tapped the butt of the pen against his thumb as he pored over 37 across. 

    ‘ delightfully charming or attractive. ’

             It wasn’t a particularly difficult definition to muster answers for: alluring, fascinating, captivating, winsome, pleasant, lovely, intriguing, etcetera. The difficulty was in finding an answer exactly ten letters long that started with an E and who’s seventh letter was a T. He cycled through potential answers as he gnawed on his inner cheek, until he struck it.

                          E  -  N  -  C  -  H  -  A  -  N  -  T  -  I  —              His pen was interrupted on the ninth box as the soft face of a teen dipped down to his own. “…Y-yes.” He stuttered out, his voice soft from the surprise of his personal space being so easily invaded. Most avoided the mortician as best they could but the young woman approached him so comfortably that the man’s eyebrows lifted above his horned rimmed glasses while watching her. 

hands slide across the surface of the table as she sits in the cushioned bench across from him. upon sitting down, her delicate fingers smooth down any wrinkles in her plaid skirt, any imperfections, then adjusting her elbows over the table –– peering up, her blue gaze FINALLY meeting his.

❛  i’m AUDREY HORNE,   ❜ she eventually says, pushing back brown curls from the corner of her face. she cannot help but feel a bit NOSY when she boldly looks down at his work, arching an eyebrow. her father called her nosy all the time –– but perhaps there was a better word for it. she would prefer INVESTIGATIVE.

Making sure her own cigarette is lit, she gives a grateful nod. At the question, she hums for a bit –trying to best describe what she can do. 

“I suppose I can make things for people, something of a craftsperson who works in all kinds of mediums. Usually my work goes to those looking for an otherworldly vibe to their pieces. But of course, I do simpler pieces for those who ask. If nothing else, I can be accommodating.”
