switching from an ~aesthetic fancy leather bound grimoire~ to Just A Binder with Loose Pages has made my Grimoire Anxiety sooooo much less. is it aesthetic? no. is it functional? absolutely!! i can take notes wherever i want and just move them to different sections!! i dont have to worry about writing something in the wrong place!! i dont need a weird complex index to find all my stuff!!
*clears throat and speaks in a whisper* fam... I feel you... and I have some wonderful news for those that can't decide between the two...

fuck it, i never ever do those “reblog for X, this one really works!” posts, but this one doesn’t have any of that BS, this is just straight up wishing us good things; and then the comment doesn’t even say any of that either. Zero claims on this post, all positive vibes
May you end this week feeling ever more certain of a future you’ll love

Me, plunking Stinky Bastard Man’s carrier on the counter: hi he’s here for shots and a nail trim and he’ll need to be sedated
Nurse: Are you sure? We can try-
Me: he needs to be sedated
Nurse: Well, it’ll take longer-
Me: he needs to be sedated, he will try to rip your face off
Nurse: Well we’ll try without first and we’ll let you know if we need to sedate
Me, watching her carry him away: you will need to sedate him
Nurse, coming back 10 minutes later clutching her hand: so, we will need to sedate him
Me:
A man with 3 caution stickers on his med file
Since this post blew up and people have asked for this villain’s record, here are some of Stinky Bastard Man’s more heinous crimes:
Screamed so loudly with such unbridled fury the one time he wasn’t sedated at the vet that he caused a little girl in the waiting room to burst into tears
Ripped an escape hole in the patio screen door in a single night
Snuck into the garage overnight where he managed to pull down his massive food bag from the top shelves, ripped it open and ate so much he couldn’t/wouldn’t move when we found him in the morning
Learned how to open the laundry cabinet to sleep on the clean towels
Learned how to open doors, thus allowing the dog to follow in after who then eats from the trash
Bats off anything on our windowsills that gets in the way of his sitting. Current succulent casualty count: 4
Thankfully cannot open the bedroom door due to rusty mechanisms, but managed to slip in one night when it wasn’t fully closed. Jumped down from my windowsill squarely onto my stomach, leaving me to bolt awake screaming from the blow and convinced I was under attack
Tricked me into loving him forever anyway
I've clearly been in the Thomas Sanders fandom too much because when I first glances at this post I immediately assumed that this Stinky Bastard Man incident was referring to one of the sides taking Remus to a vet.
Then I actually read it and saw it was talking about a cat. Oops.

hey yall I didn’t want to have to do work for my online classes so i made a uquiz instead. answer some questions and i’ll tell u what aspect of your personality annoys me the most
So far, people who get the same answer rb and tag this in VERY SIMILAR WAYS. Which is so cool!!! You know what really kills me though? People who get “you don’t like being held accountable” NEVER reblog it. BUT YOU GUYS ARE THE MOST POPULAR RESULT. I KNOW YOU’RE THERE. which tells me that you don’t like being held accountable SO MUCH that you will boycott a whole ass uquiz bc of it. And that, my friends, that is beautiful.
It's really funny whenever I try to imagine what War would look like disguise as a human, I'd happened found this picture of the main antagonist from the 80s anime Yoroiden Samurai Troopers when he was human before becoming a powerful spirit in an armor. The two sorta look similar in appearances.(Let me know when you want to see it on your message)
This mf???
It’s the scowl
For me, it is also the fact that THIS particular warrior actually ends up being reformed and because easily one of the most iconic example of "reform goals" this side of Zuko from Avatar. Strong, stoic warrior type that does everything he can to make up for his actions (including becoming stand-in protector AND friend of the non-warrior members of the heroes), tries to take up the mantel of a more calm, mature mentor character that was lost, lets go of much his anger to become kind and compassionate, AND still maintain that intensity that when needed, can still be a force to recon with on the final battlefield? SIGN ME THE FUCK UP Seriously people, go watch Ronin Warriors, it's SO good for an 80s anime.
mildly sleep deprived worldbuild concept: borrowers style concept but within the walls of high rises, each skyscraper being its own little nation with specific customs and building styles
little fieldmouse sized lad peering through cracks in townhouse ventilation, looking up past the stars to the monolith of concrete and glass, filling his heart with dreams of “the big city” from a short a space as across the road
okay i looked up the nomes series and yeah it would fit as an off-shoot within universe if i tried my hand at prose again
Not my post but I felt the need to throw this in for others consideration, inspiration, whatever you'd like to call it... There is a DnD game run by the wonderful team of Dimension 20* on Dropout (they also post them on youtube if anyone doesn't want to pay for the subscription, totally understandable) that is kind of in the theme of this very idea. It sadly doesn't involve skyscrapers but it does discuss a cultural difference between borrower communities living in a home vs living outside in the yards vs a community center. It also involves bugs and living toys that can really get you in that headspace of 'the magic of looking through a child's eyes with an adult story' The game in question is called Tiny Heist, it is a standard heist story line run by the always delightful maniacal DM that is Brennan Lee Mulligan and if that interests anyone, here's the link for the youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-y98OYaXu8 If nothing else, it's a wonderful case study of why some creatives should never be given coffee unsupervised
*please note that I am in no way affiliated with D20 or Dropout, I just love the shows and the people they tend to have on there
I’ve never had a reheading go this horribly before. I’d say I’m pretty good at beheading- I may have broken a neck once or twice, but never any parts I actually liked or intended on keeping, and usually a reheading is the easiest thing, right? Just a little squish and a pop and done, a complete person. But this time it just- it just won’t go back on the body?? Which is incredibly frustrating but also, like, why??
And the funniest thing is, I’m not even swapping a head!! This is a curvy dancer head going onto a curvy dancer body!! They match!! This should have been so simple!! But no, this head’s just flopping around like a limp flaccid idiot and my hands are all red and sore now but the head just isn’t attaching all the way!!
Today I did six beheadings and two other reheadings, and I wanted to get this one attached so I could take a picture, but somehow it just isn’t working!! The head is just getting squished around but isn’t stretching over the neck right!! And I’m way too lazy to go and boil the head just to make the slip easier!! And I don’t wanna keep forcing it cuz I might break something but this is!! So frustrating!!
Like, what could I possibly be doing wrong!! Fuck!!
I boiled the head and it popped right onto the neck in like two seconds.
I’m an idiot. Always do things the proper way from the get-go. Saves a lot of wasted time and struggle and ouchy hands.
BARBIES. I’M TALKING ABOUT BARBIES. I AM CUSTOMIZING TOYS RIGHT NOW I AM NOT A SERIAL KILLER AND I HAVE NEVER BEHEADED AN ACTUAL REAL LIFE HUMAN BEING OR TRIED TO REATTACH A PERSON’S HEAD BY BOILING IT

what the fuck ethan
I wish i had a context for this. But I really dont.
I was all ready to “um, actually” this, but, um, actually there’s about 3-4 grams of iron in a person, which x400 is 1.2-1.6kg, which is a smallish but not unreasonable sword. So. Math checks out.
How would you extract the iron, though? The more practical solution would be to kill a mere hundred men, then mix 1 part blood with 3 parts standard molten iron, imo. Cheaper and faster, while still retaining the edge that only evil magic can give you.
Or, you could just make the sword of iron, and then use the blood to temper the blade.
1.2 to 1.6 kilograms is a perfectly reasonable large sword. Your average longsword was 1.1–1.8 kg and I don’t even remember if that’s including the weight of the hilt, guard, and pommel or just the blade. Your more classic “knight sword” was a mere 1.1 kilograms on average; the blood of 400 men is more than enough.
This is using the comparatively crappy metallurgy of medieval Europe and their meh iron swords. Move east to, say, contemporary Iran and make a scimitar using high carbon steel (~2%) for a .75 kilogram blade and you only need the blood of about 225 men.
So putting my thoughts in on this… because how could I not.
So you’ve exsanguinated your 400 guys to get the iron for your sword. Cool. But now you have 400 bodies lying around.
Why not put those to good use and cremate them. Use the carbon from those 400 bodies (you won’t need all of them) and now you can make a nice mid-high carbon steel sword.
Now you have a sword forged with the blood of your enemies AND strengthened with their bones.
“high fantasy math” - the tag I should have expected to write some day.

Since it’s Free Comic Book Day, I figured I’d share my short comic from the Valor Anthology, The Nettle-Witch, (pretty loosely) based on the fairy tale The Wild Swans. Something about the imagery and the locations in the story always made it one of my favourites to read as a kid, and I tried to get some of that feeling into the look of my comic.
