As someone who has been writing for literal years, and went to school for it and got an actual degree in it and has spent more years finding the joys in their craft, I'm now insanely nervous to post work to Ao3 (whether original or for the fandoms I'm in) given all the AI nonsense going on. But if you're following me here from Ao3, I suppose I'll say now that I never have and never will use a machine to write for me, or edit, or assist, in any way. My readers deserve to read works written by a human. But part of the writing process, part of this craft, is wrestling with the words or the world or the plots, and as frustrating as that can be, it still feels insanely rewarding to get past, or to finally conquer writer's block and write again when inspiration strikes. Why the fuck would I ever want to give that up for the sake of stale convenience? Why would I not want to use my own brain that is capable of making my words sound like me? When I've grovelled for years to find my own voice and style?
