Oh my… For you to banish me so soon… Have I angered you in some way, Yamato Hotsuin?
You still have Bifrons in your party.
Disgusting.
A gentle smile touched Hibiki’s lips as he listened intently to Yamato’s comeback. Hibiki could tell Yamato was trying hard which he found… touching. As if admitting defeat, Hibiki reached out for Yamato and placed his hand on his head.
“Someone has done their research.” Hibiki gently ruffled his partner’s hair. As always it was soft to the touch, silky almost. “But you’re right, I shouldn’t eat right now. I’ll be a big boy and save my appetite for dinner then. I’ll bless you with my presence, if you’ll have me.”
There was no longer any mocking undertone to be found in Hibiki’s voice. He liked going all out in their, well… competitions, so to say, but he loved showing his affection for Yamato and spoiling him.
“We good? Or want to go for another round?”
“--................” Coming into his personal space and acting so boldly? Especially so far as to tousle his perm? As expected of the no-boundaries Hibiki... Yamato had underestimated him yet again.
“Best 2 out of 3.” With that, Yamato waved away the other’s touchy hand, proceeding to fill a JPs logo mug with freshly steaming coffee. At least this was going to help him through the afternoon, unlike a certain distraction flittering about here. “The only blessing is that I haven’t sent you home for misconduct. Show me you can actually get some work done and then maybe I’ll consider the offer. But if not, you can spend your evening pushing papers and eating instant noodles as you usually do.” (Don’t think he hasn’t seen your office garbage bin, Hibiki.)
Ah! I see. A human testing the Sword… That is quite interesting, Yamato Hotsuin.
…Though I was not expecting praise from you.
Take it with a grain of salt!
Are you insinuating that I’m becoming soft? You’re still a million years too inexperienced to make those baseless accusations, Alcor! Go train in some free battles and then come back to try again!
…You did. Do you not remember?
Ha!
I was testing you. Well done, Alcor.

Who let you out of the tube
Hibiki huffed out a laugh in response. Yamato was always eager to jump on any opportunity to verbally get into a “fight” with him. It wasn’t as much of a “fight” as all that would be said would always be taken in good humor and neither of them was angry with the other, but they both seemed to enjoy fooling around like this a little too much.
“Hmmm…. Is that so? You’re going to have to pick between your other acquaintances? All three of them?”
Hibiki sniggered. That wasn’t the truth, of course. With all the people Yamato had to go meet as the leader of JP’s he knew way more people than Hibiki did. Friends were another story, however. Although Hibiki had to give Yamato credit for opening up more to his friends as of late.
“If you’re inviting Daichi, please be gentle with him. Last time you two were alone in the same room the poor thing had to deal with nightmares for months. I don’t know what it is you did to him other than being your usual self, but he still has not been able to tell me everything which happened yet without telling me he has to go hide from everyone mid-story.”
“An amusing jest. You should be glad we’re on familiar terms, or else I’d be offended.”
Loading up the instant mate with the proper filter--even the likes of Yamato could handle maneuvering this common appliance--clever lilac optics made their way back to those ever watching aqua. ... Hibiki was truly testing his nerve today, wasn’t he? Well, unfortunately for him, the chief was rather steeled and focused for this sort of battle, unrelenting in his own playful retorts.
“Can you blame the poor soul? He looked rather humiliated, given that he lost your betting and was forced into women’s attire to spend the evening with me... He called it a date? I thought it was rather enjoyable. Such a shame he’s tormented by it.”
There Hibiki was indeed, sniffing around in one of the bigger kitchens of JP’s headquarters. Obviously his reason for looking through cabinets, fridges and whatnot wasn’t because he was checking on their supplies, buy lower rank JP’s members wouldn’t accuse the chief’s right hand man of lying. The chief himself on the other hand…
“I am always putting myself to good use, am I not? Currently I’m blessing you with my presence.”
This is the young man that saved the world from a terrible fate... incredible. Incredible, indeed. But perhaps it was his unorthodox methods that had truly brought them to victory. The invaders known as the Septentriones had not been your normal enemy either, but because they were not textbook learned strategies--because he had not trained himself so formally in the ways of historical combat formations--could very well be the reason for their well-earned salvation. Yamato could not complain when they were all living peaceful days once more. Approaching the other and trifling through the newly opened stash--while he was at it, he may as well brew a fresh pot of coffee--he exchanged a clever look with Hibiki, returning just as much snark as he had been given.
“At least stuffing your mouth keeps it shut. But if you’re so peckish now, I suppose you won’t have room for dinner together later?” He didn’t give the other the time to reply at that, following up with a charming smirk. “--Very well. I’ll invite another acquaintance in your stead, do not fret”
aotoshirousagi
Aha. So there he was, up to no good presumably.
“You could at least put yourself to some use instead of slinking about..”
Cleaning up this blog and revamping.
trouble [au]
Ah. He had set Yamato off again…
"…My apologies. I never meant it in that sense… I do have faith in you, Yamato, but…"
But what? He didn’t want Yamato to get hurt because of him? He would talking right in the face of what Yamato had just said, and that wouldn’t go over well.
He shook his head. There really was no getting through to the student council president whenever he set his mind on something.
"Pay me no mind. Perhaps I am just weary… I really do appreciate your being here with me, Yamato."
Alcor tried to smile then, but the sinking feeling in his stomach, as well as the fatigue, did much to diminish it. That was it, then. Yamato had gotten mixed up in this mess, and there would be no way out of it short of seeing things through and addressing the root of everything.
No more running away now. Perhaps that was what Alcor had been afraid of all along. How selfish of him.
"I must thank you again…for being here," he said quietly, trying to swallow the negativity.
"Hmmph, I would pray you not underestimate me, especially knowing my own experience," Yamato said so with an almost arbitrate playfulness, as if testing the bitter waters between them further. "--After all, one of us is more unscathed than the other, if I may remind you" Though the ally way was now calmed, just in low reverberation to the tune of passing traffic and cicadas chirruping from the main streets, there was a slight unease choking the air still... They couldn't be certain that this was the end of skirmishes for today; It would probably be best for them to move on before any sort of reinforcements decided to try and get lucky. "--Though, I would have made the suggestion anyway..." Yamato followed up as he lowered his sleeves and shrugged on his blazer, pale locks blowing in the lukewarm breeze passing. "You'll be staying at my estate, right? Steely silver optics captured that pair of lilac, brazenly, his voice strong, and prominent, though he barely raised it above the usual volume. There was a time and place to take precedent, after all, and modesty couldn't be allowed, not at such a crucial time.
"Mind you, that's not a suggestion."
trouble [au]
If Yamato was making those kinds of comments, then he was unharmed and still in top form… That was a relief. Despite the criticism, Alcor couldn’t help but smile.
"I suppose that is to be expected," he said, still breathless, trying to calm the burning in his chest. "I never did receive any formal training, alas. Everything I have exhibited thus far is self-taught…"
Hence the rough form. It suited his purposes well enough, but perhaps that was why he had been trounced so often in the past…
He took Yamato’s hand gratefully, allowing himself to be pulled up. “Yes… Thank you. For…this, as well. I would hate to think of what would have become of me if I had stumbled upon that crowd on my own.”
He probably would have died. Yamato could have died. The possibility of that was so frighteningly real that the smile faded from Alcor’s face.
"I must apologize for involving you in this," he said, his voice quiet. "It was never my intention for such a thing to happen… I am sorry."
It was true, then… Nothing good would ever come out of being with him.
"Perhaps…it would be for the best if we were not seen together. I would hate for you to become a target as well."
Getting Alcor back onto his feet, Yamato felt at slight ease. Despite his disheveled facade at the moment, everything was in tact. That was satisfactory for now. Though, in light of Alcor's sudden sentimental statements, his mood was ultimately soured. If the other could only keep his mouth closed instead of spouting such utter nonsense..
"Perhaps…it would be for the best if we were not seen together. I would hate for you to become a target as well."
"Enough." "I won't hear any of that," Yamato spoke with a tone of heavy conviction; in no way were they to part now of all times; If anything, the more intelligent reasoning would be to stick together. "--You have already imagined it, yes? If encountered alone, we'd have been mangled corpses by now." It was truly because of their teamwork that they had made it so unscathed; To think that the suggestion of parting even crossed Alcor's mind was entirely blasphemous; Perhaps he had even suffered a blow to the head when he hadn't been looking..
"Not only are we fellow Council members, but we are comrades, first and foremost. Put more faith in me if you wish to make it out of this with minimal collateral damage..."
trouble [au]
Alcor was not one to lose his cool, but he couldn’t quite help it when panic overtook him for a few seconds, seeing Yamato walk right into the heart of the congregation.
"…Yamato!"
He all but ran after him, expecting the worst; the crowd had bristled at Yamato’s taunting, a few of the men charging forward—
—Or not? Yamato dispatched them easily, his movements fluid and precise. Of course. He was a Hotsuin. He would have received some training for sure…
Shaking himself out of his thoughts, he dropped his school bag and lunged at another one of the thugs before Yamato could be blindsided. There was no time to think now; they had to work together to come out of this alive.
—
It was over. By some miracle, the both of them had made it out of the scuffle relatively unscathed.
Quite frankly, Alcor was exhausted. He had never had to deal with so many before, and only wondered what the result would have been if he had been caught alone. He stood, his hands on his knees, panting heavily. His blazer was disheveled, some parts of it torn… He probably should have taken it off, as Yamato had.
Speaking of which…
Between gasps of breath, he looked up. The other teen stood not too far away, and he looked no worse for wear despite having taken on multiple men at least twice his breadth. “Yamato… Are you alright…?”
Yamato was soon swept into the rush of combat, weary of not over exerting himself while putting forth the required effort in order to teach these miscreants their proper place. The greatest offense was his speed and evasion, taking not a single hit as he landed every hit with promise. These fools weren't even worth their time, though they were confident and persistent in numbers... As would as troop of weaklings would be. Though he seemed to be more out of practice than usual, Yamato didn't fret over Alcor too much, he knew him to be a sufficient fighter from experience; though it was clear, in a few instances, they needed to use team work to get out of a potentially disastrous fix, their opponents clear incentive nothing beyond foul play. They pressed on however, drove after drove of thugs pouring in on them, running away with their tails between their legs every time they fell face forward on the cold back streets. Sooner or later they'd give up, but for now endurance was key.. — Lifting his blazer from the corner he had left it in and dusting off, the last of the trash had picked itself up and scurried off with a few distressed cries. Huffing in their direction, Yamato had to admit, he was rather tired now, his bare knuckles scuffed and bruised after so much repetitive use. That was careless of him, though there was no helping it, given that it had been a completely impulsive situation... he'd bare through the dull ache as penance. Looking over to to his comrade once he was addressed, the Student Council President sauntered over, tightening his tie again as he fixed the rest of his attire. Such a bother.. everything was wrinkled and out of place... Not to mention Alcor looked awful. "I'm Perfectly fine, though I can't very well say the same for you; Your form is far too imperfect." Bending down, Yamato offered a hand, voice even and authoritative per usual, as if still in the club room. "Look at you, such a mess; Can you stand?"
trouble [au]
Alcor should have known that the peace wouldn’t last.
Nothing in his life had changed, barring the fact that he was now the student council president’s secretary, if you will. That is to say, nothing about that life had changed. He still stayed after school with Yamato, he still walked home with him, as he always had been doing for the past two months…
So why now, of all times, would the gangs that used to plague him, attack? While he was Yamato of all people?
Well, there was no time to dwell on that. The men had corralled off any escape route, leaving them trapped. At the very least, he could make sure Yamato get out unscathed…
"Yamato, you run," Alcor said quietly, so as to not be overheard. "I will attempt to create an opening for you so that you can escape…"
Yamato accepted the fact that their tranquil days had been short-lived. Happiness and joy were just as fleeting an emotion as pain and sadness. And in this moment, surrounded by the inevitable circumstances, surely it was time to set aside their passive differences and act accordingly. Yamato was not against violence outside of school grounds; fists spoke more powerfully than words for these simpletons... Having been brushed aside by Alcor beside him, he could only offer a stern look of great detest in return, clicking his tongue disapprovingly. How dare he suggest something so unseemly of him? Pity was not something the young Hotsuin would take very light offense to; His pride burned at such a thought. "Who do you think I am?" he returned sharply, standing straighter as he removed his blazer and loosened his tie."We will go in as a unit, do you understand? As Student Council President, the safety and well-fare of the students under my care is top priority. I will do no such thing as retreat." Stepping forward, Yamato could feel every fiber in his being itching in anticipation--as the next in line of the prestigious Hotsuin family, he had had he fair share of physical training on top of the intensive academic studying he had been exposed to throughout life. One had to be strong in both mind and body, after all... There was no way he would fall to these modern neanderthals. Much to Alcor's disapproval, Yamato made his stride into the heart of the buzzing hive of delinquents, polished school loafers tapping loudly against the echoing pavement. Now it was time to give them a proper public display of his fury... Especially after the last incident... "Henh... Like pigs to the slaughter. Come."
[AU] little miracles
Yamato was gentle. Alcor didn’t know the class president was capable of this sort of tenderness, given how he usually was… But it wasn’t as if it was a bad thing. It felt warm, and comforting. It was such a foreign, yet soothing sensation…
He couldn’t help but feel a little bit disappointed when Yamato pulled away. He brought his fingers to his own lips, barely brushing against them.
"…I see. I think I understand now."
No explanation had to be given—actions spoke in volumes. Even though he had never experienced such a thing, Alcor felt that he knew the meaning behind what Yamato had done, and the feelings associated with the gesture.
Alcor was delighted.
He looked back to Yamato inquisitively. “May I…?”
May I do it as well, was what he wanted to ask, but he still didn’t quite have a term to attach to the action. Hopefully Yamato would understand…?
The reception of Yamato's actions were responded to in a positive acclaim, especially seeing as how Alcor hadn't rejected him just yet. The yearning in his chest was strong, however, resisting any such sudden movement that could possibly turn the other away. But given the fact that Alcor was asking permission to return the favor... They were in knee-deep now. Yamato offered the most sincere of smiles. "Yes. That's fine," he nodded, lashes slowly lowering over those eased grey optics.
