Fly.
❀–Sophie sighed, sitting down on the bench. Even though she wasn’t old anymore, she enjoyed looking out over any kind of scenery. The door had put her in quite a strange place this time, but she decided just to spite it, she would enjoy herself first before trying to find it.
She blinked in surprise when the young man beside her spoke. “I’m sorry?” Sophie asked, smoothing her dress over her knees. She was aware that her clothes looked a bit out of place in this strange town, but thankfully no one had seemed to notice yet.
The bespectacled boy's eyes flew towards the other as he became aware of her appearance - a woman, and a pretty one at that. He'd been mumbling to himself, hadn't he? Oops.
"Oh, no, it's nothing. Sorry. Just talking to myself." He nodded once as though to affirm that that was all it was. "I'm Tombo Kopoli. Who're you?"
"Tombo, you’re nice, aren’t you?" "Hey, you finally realized that?" "Well, at first you seemed like such a clown!"
"Oh, hey, Kiki! Hi!"
"And hi to everybody else, too! Welcome to Koriko!"
"Hello to you too!"
Oh. She was pretty. Tombo's cheeks darkened for just a second.
"I'm Tombo. Tombo Kopoli! Who are you?"
"Oh, hello!"
"Uhm, thank you, I suppose…What’s your name, then?"
"Name's Tombo Kopoli. And you are?"
"I am called Chevali. Chevali Gogoasa. A pleasure, Tombo." She smiled softly as they exchanged pleasantries. "Tell me, why are you out here alone?"
"Nice to meet you, Chavali."
"I dunno." He turned back to face the water, his back to her now. "Just wanted to be alone to think, I guess."
"Oh, hey, Kiki! Hi!"
"And hi to everybody else, too! Welcome to Koriko!"
“Hi! And thanks. This place seems nice.”
"Nice is probably the right word for it."
"Little boring, though."
Tombo's father left the family when Tombo was very young. Tombo doesn't remember him at all, and therefore doesn't feel much sadness over it - how can you miss someone you never knew? Nevertheless, he does wonder from time to time if it was his fault.
"Why would what?" A female voice questioned from behind. Ah. The ocean, she so enjoyed the view of it.
"Is something troubling you?"
At the sudden prescence behind him, Tombo's head whipped around. Oh, someone had hear him mumbling to himself. What a clown. He didn't want to make others worry over him.
"Ah...sorry. I'm fine." He shook his head rapidly. "I'm Tombo Kopoli. You are?"
Mabel’s smile became even brighter when Tombo complimented her name. She didn’t get too many compliments on her name from other kids her age. Some of them even teased her about it saying her name sounded like an old lady’s name, but she never let their teasing get to her.
"Aw thanks, your name is pretty nice to." she replied, taking his hand and gave it a friendly shake. After a few seconds she released his hand, letting her arm drape back to her side. "So Tombo could you tell me where I am?" she asked, placing her hands behind her back.
He grinned when she complimented his name. Not that it was such an uncommon occurrence, but a compliment was a compliment. He grinned happily.
"You're in Koriko!" How'd she end up here on accident? It was so weird. They were surrounded by water on all sides, after all. "Are you...lost?"
The normally cheerful boy held an air of discomfort, his expression wistful and wondering.
He barely even noticed the others as he sat on the beach, staring at the water and wondering aloud, "Why would..."
“No, not really,” Gou tugged on the end of her pony tail out of habit- she had never been that great with new people, after all.
“I just really like traveling. I’m only spending a day or two here before I’m gonna head to meet my friends in another town.”
"Aw, only a day or two?" Not that he blamed her. The town, though beautiful, was a little dull. "Well, you want the grand tour in the mean time? I've lived here my whole life."
"Well spotted."
The boy appeared to be quite overwhelmed by the fact that Howl was a wizard. This was the reaction which he wanted to have every day. He liked it to impress people.
"Nice to meet you. So am I right in assuming that wizards are very rare in this region?"
"Yeah! There hasn't been a witch or wizard in Koriko since my mom was a little girl!" He'd never met a magical being before, least of all a wizard. Another thought flashed through the boy's head, prompting even wider eyes and an even bigger grin.
"So can you fly?!"
Jiji gave what could be considered a smile before looking forward again. It was around here somewhere! The small feline paused in his walking again, spotting the glint of metal and hard plastic. There it was!
"Where..."
"Oh! There it is!" In a tree, of all things, but oh well. He ran towards it, scrambling up the trunk with clumsy but impressive agility, his head poking out from the top of the branches after a moment with a triumphant grin. "Got i-!"
And then he promptly fell out of the tree, the propeller landing beside him. "...Ow."
Sophie took a step back, surpised at his outburst. “OH.. well, yes, he can fly,” she said, then shrugged. ‘He’s not very easy to find, and doesn’t like strangers,” she admitted.
"Doesn't like strangers...aw, man."
Not that it mattered. So what, maybe he didn't get to meet a wizard. He'd still help this young lady. "Well, I guess I better still help you, huh?" He smiled to himself, shrugging once.
