I took plenty of pictures in our eight days in California, but this was my one obligatory tourist yoga picture, at Land’s End overlooking the Pacific and the Golden Gate.
It was a little windy.

my entry for the #beerdrinkingyogis contest! thanks @kathrynbudig and @omissionbeer 🍻
I opened my inbox this morning, opened a newsletter I don’t usually read, and look who I found - the lovely Chrissy Carter! Her breakdown of all these poses (the thirty yoga poses you “need to know”) can be found on Greatist.

Oh man, I have been super busy. Which is awesome, since it was because I have been acting as a craft beer consultant for the management team of Jones Beach Theater. Meaning, getting paid to research and reach out to breweries on Long Island and in Brooklyn in order to help them revamp their current very sorry beer offerings. Pretty much the coolest opportunity I’ve had so far.
Part of my research took us to Finback Brewery in Queens - a brewery we have wanted to go to for awhile. Their beers are delicious, their slogan is “whaley good beer”, which is adorable, but they are in a part of Queens that you basically have to take a bunch of different buses to get to, or bike. We planned on biking in early December, and then winter hit with full force, so we finally went this past weekend. Six miles, a lot of wind, and totally worth it. One of their beers, a saison, is called “Sunday Field Trips” - I think they know.

The New Yorker: Uses of “Namaste” at My Local Yoga Studio
Yogi: How much is the coconut water?
Receptionist: Seven dollars.
Yogi: No, just for the little one.
Receptionist: Yeah, it’s seven dollars.
Yogi: Seriously?
Receptionist: Yeah.
Yogi: Is there something special about it?
Receptionist: Well, I mean, coconut water is really good for you. It’s got a lot of good electrolytes.
Yogi: Yeah, I know, but I could go to the Duane Reade next door and get, like, three of those bottles for seven dollars.
Receptionist: Yeah, that’s where we get them. But we have to cover labor and refrigeration and stuff.
Yogi: Labor? For carrying the bottles from next door? How do I get that job?
Receptionist: Well, you have to fill out this form.
Yogi: I don’t actually want a job. Just give me the coconut water.
Receptionist: Ok. That’s seven dollars.
Yogi: Yeah, I know. Here.
Receptionist: Namaste.
so the only bad part about being 24 is definitely noticing that everyone always posts these terrible “25 habits to break before 25″ and “25 things every woman should have before they turn 25″ (i thought that was going to be a cool list of stuff like a rice cooker and a dressy pair of sneakers or something, but ended up being a list of nonsense like “forgiveness for who she was and an idea of who she wants to be”) articles on facebook.
and now they are supposedly relevant to my life because i’m one year away from 25.
but really, can’t we all just do things at our own pace and figure it out as we go? some of these lists include things that grown-ass women i know don’t even have figured out, or others (”a hairstyle that takes less than 5 minutes!”) i have definitely had on lock for years (because i’m lazy, not because your article inspired me to be a better 24 year old).
October when it's 45 degrees: what have we done to deserve such a fate *puts on 3 layers of clothing, a winter coat, 2 pairs of gloves, and boots before setting foot outside*
March when it's 45 degrees: god has blessed us with a beautiful day honestly i feel inspired *opens windows, goes outside with no jacket, smiles at strangers as they pass by*
constantly stuck between “life’s short: eat the mac and cheese” and “life’s gonna be REAL SHORT if all you fucking eat is mac and cheese”

Jenny Liz Rome - "Pisces" It's my birthday! Here's to hoping for good things for my 24th!
at this point, i am basically ignoring the fact that winter exists - not going outside unless i have to, watching surf videos, occasionally searching for flights to florida, doing yoga in our warm, sunny living room, and online bikini shopping. i am OVER you, winter.
