I'm in this commercial and I eat cake.
I don't normally post things like this, but since I said it I think it's important.
Enjoy watching me fall down on a continuous loop.
Here's a video of me falling down. Laugh! Enjoy! Share! Refresh!
My Friend Bob
I was sad to hear about the passing of my friend Bob Elkman. Bob was an advertising executive who cast me in my very first commercial when I first moved to LA way back in 2003. It was for the MovieTickets.com campaign and they were looking for a spokesperson. I remember they had met with a lot of people that day and kept three of us for one final look see. Bob decided to split up the dialogue between the three of us and they ended up booking all of us.
The MovieTickets people weren't 100% sold on us and insisted on a callback. I was out of town doing stand up, but Bob assured me he would make it work. I thought it was just talk, but lo and behold Bob fought for me and when I returned to LA, Bob told me I got the part. On the night before the shoot I got really bad stomach flu. I was damned if I was gonna cancel. I arrived still not feeling well. We did a few takes and I finally had to run out of the garage and use the bathroom. Bob was waiting for me when I got out and I told him what was happening. He told me not to worry and covered for me. Between takes he would say the lights needed adjusting or would talk to the director about something, allowing me enough time to get away and do my thing. The first Movietickets commercial ended up being a big success. That was due to Bob's willingness to let us improvise and his creative input. The Movietickets people were so happy with the first spot, they let us shoot a second commercial. This campaign was even bigger and included billboards and ran on TV, in addition to in movie theaters.
Even after we finished shooting all the commercials Bob and I stayed in touch. He worked on a few local commercials and let me cast them with my friends. When work slowed down we continued to have lunch and talk about different aspects in our lives. One thing was my love life or lack thereof. Bob always said when the time was right you'll know. The night before Bob died, I had decided to propose to my girlfriend. I like to think maybe he was there to witness it. People always say Hollywood is full of a lot of phonies, but Bob was the real deal and I'm lucky to have known him. I hope I continue to carry his creative spirit in all the work I do. Very excited about the live reading for the pilot my girlfriend and I wrote. All the details are above. Really great cast! Danielle Kennedy was booked to play Grandma Rose but booked a movie last minute. Lynne Stewart who plays Charlie's mom on 'Always Sunny' and was Ms. Yvonne on Pee Wee's Playhouse has jumped in to replace her. It's gonna be great & it's free, so c'mon out!
