@tommy-sawyer
Ellie almost had to resist the urge to beg Gus to stay with them, despite the fact that he could barely keep his eyes open during the last hour or so. It’s not that she doesn’t want to spend time with Tommy but it’s easier with Gus around to distract her with his ridiculous comments, especially while he’s drunk. Now that they’re officially alone, she has to ensure that she keeps herself completely in check. “Did you see him tossing back those beers? I’m surprised he lasted as long as he did,” she adds, her lips tugging into a slight grin. “I’m not about to give up and go to bed. Somebody has to attempt to out drink you.” It won’t be her — she really is the definition of a ‘light weight’, which is why she’s taking it so slow. “Why? Are you about to buy a ticket to, uh, Dreamland?” Despite her reservations about drinking alone with him, she hopes he isn’t about to call it a night. They probably won’t ever get the opportunity to hang out entirely alone again — or at least certainly not in the near future. “I think what we need is another drink.”
Tommy visibly relaxes when Ellie assures she wouldn't be following in Gus' early bird footsteps. "He's a 'go big or go home' kind of guy. Even when he's already home. Out drink me, huh?" That sounded like a challenge and his slightly intoxicated state was not about to turn down something like that. "Bring it, Adams." Breezing past her, Tommy nudged her playfully before retrieving the both of them another beer. "Nah, not yet at least. Usually my ticket to Dreamland has a long delay anyways, so." The crack of his can finishes his thought as he tips the drink back, allowing the bitter beverage to trickle down his throat. "One step ahead of you," he chuckles, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand before handing the can over to her. A part of him is a little nervous, drinking alone with her seemed like a dangerous game to be playing. Especially when he'd hardly been able to occupy his thoughts from her since they'd all returned back to her parent's home. Sweet lack of inhibition threatened to concave his tactical cavalier approach to the girl. But with another swig from his beer, Tommy was hardly caring about that anymore. Sinking into the couch and stretching out comfortably, the buzzed boy eyes her curiously for a moment. "Let's play a game or something, I have a feeling you're gonna be nursing that beer otherwise."
