I painted this A2 picture of Bugs Bunny in the style of Goya’s ‘Saturn Devouring his Son’. I tried to get the dramatic lighting in there using a harsh light on the figure making it look as though he’s standing in front of a bright light.

For this I purchased some modelling clay and just began to sculpt a face using this ideas image for inspiration. I forgot to take a photo of the finished piece but i painted the eyes as well as painting the parts around the face in bright red (like Po). When I finsihed the painting on it I thread some thick wire through the holes I put in the face to give it the effect of stitches.

I then painted the rest of the head red (except the face). The reason why I painted it black first was to get that dark tone coming through the paint to make it look scarier. I stapled the latex mask on to head to make it look like it had been stitched on. Finally I displayed it on a wooden stand by screwing directly through the wood and the mask.

When the paint had dried I made this latex mask directly on to the head sculpture by layering on lots of latex to be peeled off of the face later on.
Antenna and black paint
I then created an antenna out of thick wire and forced it through the head. I went round the antenna with more plaster and painted it all with black wall paint.

Using an old halloween mask and a balloon I sculpted this weird looking head out of plaster strips. The idea of this was to make something that looks quite alien-like. The plaster allowed me to create a bumpy texture which will look interesting when it’s all painted and complete.
T shirt plans
For the 3rd one I created a tie dye effect using cyanotype. To do this I tied parts of the t sihrt up with bobbles and elastic bands, soaked the t shirt in cyanotype then left it to dry over night in the dark room. When I came back to the t shirt I exposed the back of it in the UV bed (still with the bobbles in) so that it resists in places as well as printing it blue in the style of tie dye. I did the same to the front only this time I placed the t shirt over my acetate with the barney design on it so that it prints the image on the t shirt as well as printing the tie dye style on to it. I then rinsed as much of the cyanotype solution off of the shirt and further washed it in the washing machine.

The first one came out beautifully, really good quality print and the second also came out well considering it’s on a big piece of wood.
Cyanotype onto t shirts
For this I boxed off the size of my image on to the t shirt using thick tape. I then cut down some paper the size of the image (for this is was A3) masking taped the paper together to create a thick board and slotted the board on the inside of the t shirt behind where i was to print the image. I then painted the cyanotype solution on to the boxed off area and left it to dry in the drying unit. It took about 40/50 minutes to dry as the material was almost soaking. When it dried I placed the t shirt over my acetate in the UV bed (still with the board inside the t shirt) and exposed it to the light. I then washed it thoroughly in the sink until the water was running clear and further washed it in the washing machine.
I designed this picture of Barney in cuffs standing right by a children play park using photos from google. Of course it would be copyright to claim that as my own so I took my camera down to a park in Trafford and was happy to see the play park was an old style one. I then edited Barney in to the new play park and printed it on to acetate ready to be printed using cyanotype.

Cinderella
A video I put together inspired by ‘A Trip to the Moon’ and the story of ‘Cinderella’.
I wanted this video to feature a really old film style, including; dust and speckle, jumpy images, diluted colours, film marks, blurry picture and at least one experimental technique of filming. In this case I filmed the model moving as if he’s in reverse. I then edited the footage in reverse so that it looked as if he was doing the actions normally only there was something slightly off about the footage. I got my model to wear a bright blue dress that I purchased specifically for this video to look like Cinderella. I also edited the original 1957 Story of Cinderella audio in the background with a crackle effect on it to make it seem like an authentic old film. I was going to edit this video to be black and white to make it more like ‘A Trip to the Moon’ but I think one of the main features in this video is the bright blue dress and didn’t want to take that away.

French adventure film about a group of astronomers who travel to the Moon in a cannon-propelled capsule, to explore the Moon's surface. A very early short film that proves to be way ahead of it’s time with special effects.
I want to use this style of film making for my video but using a digital camera and editing it the way I would like it to be on Premiere Pro.
