Nervous, stomach somersaulting, she could feel the gas bubbling within her as she felt her stomach fluttering more. Goodness, what was this feeling? she was watching this man as he left from the table. Taking the offer she had given him to get to know her. Was he interested like she was? surely she shouldn’t have thrown herself in such availability like that? at least show a little resistant that she wasn’t desperate to know more about this man that she had seen about many times. Something must be different? she had never acted like she had done around someone… not since her and Matt had gotten together- but then again she was always comfortable in a friend like way with him, since their relationship had started out as a close friendship before they decided to give it a go. But this, this was unexplainable, it was as though they were meant to meet, meant to be drawn to one another and not because they were working in the same place, she was sure they would have met despite that anyway.
With a soft breath leaving her lips subtly, she slowly exhaled, trying to calm her hot flushes but each quickly heated up again as she chuckled, “I’ll keep a watch out” she remarked, staring over at the cafeteria lady who was already scowling her way. 'Maybe she heard? now I’m definitely in for it. That woman is scary….’ the glare she was giving her was enough to make you feel uncomfortable. Oh she definitely noticed… she felt sorry for Tom having to order another two cups since she was so clumsy. Chewing at her lower lip and tugging it within her mouth she firmly sucked on it for the time being. Playing with her fingers as she twirled her thumbs nervously she stared down at her hands risking the eye contact that was daggering her way, until he made his way back with the piping hot drinks, that she made sure not to spill a second time round.
“Do you think she purposely gave us the coffee piping hot? she has been glaring at me the entire time..” she commented with a soft chuckle, she noticed that he was nervous too and attempted to further become comfortable - really she was just watching herself so that she wouldn’t make a fool out of herself. Clasping long fingers around the cup, the cardboard covering so she wouldn’t burn herself as she drew it closer towards her, she gave a gentle nod. “I’ve been here a few months, not too long, just studying and aiming to further myself up the list and do something more important…like actually saving someone’s life. I’m just stuck with the assistant work, watching..writing things down. That sort of thing” she smiled up at him “and you?” she asked curiously as she adjusted her chair to pull herself closer, slowly she reached forward with her hand resting it upon her own “you don’t need to be nervous around me” she assured him with a soft friendly smile before turning her attention back to her diary.
“If I told you, I might have to kill you..” she teased.
As he settled down across her, he tried his best to cover up the nervousness that was basically trying to burst out of him. It was ridiculous, really. Not knowing the other girl in the slightest, a name was all he knew so far, he was already freaking out about what he could tell her next, what he could do to not scare her off immediatelly. Tom's always been one to have it particularilg hard around women. Especially around those who glanced at him with such big, pretty eyes and had a calming aura around them in general - it scared him, making him feel like he wasn't worth their time with his clumsy actions and words. It wasn't rare for him to mess up opportunities like these, but this time around he truly didn't want to mess anything up. Eyes glanced at the clock that hung in the cafeteria, internally noting down how much time he had left for this conversation. His attention turned back to the brunette as she mentioned the angry lady from before and he couldn't help but let out a small laugh.
“I can understand that. When I saw her up close I thought she was going to stare me to death. In which case, you could've proven yourself to be able to save someone's life - I hope so, at least.” The male mused, a playful grin tugging around on his lips as he replied, giving away he was joking. “Oh I, uh.. I've been here for quite some time actually. A year or two. You kind of forget time around here. I'm mostly busy being a paramedic, that exciting stuff, you know. Though sometimes, I actually wish I could be in your place - I recall my assistant time to be very.. relaxed.” He spoke a bit rushed, obviously nervous, an awkward smile almost constantly on his features as he talked. Letting out a sigh he tried to readjust his thoughts, realizing he had been a bit too negative towards the end maybe, his work and how much it stressed him out was one of the last things he wanted to talk about.
When her hand darted close, his eyes lowered on it and he watched it for quite a while, before a soft chuckle escaped him and he took a sip of his coffee, finally able to calm down. It was thanks to her words only and he was incredibly grateful for that, having felt lost for a split moment just now. “Sorry, sorry.. I'm just glad to be able to talk to you. Which sounds weird, but, you know. You're pretty intriguing.” He hoped that wouldn't come off too obscure. A frown was slowly to appear on his forehead, but then she mentioned her diary again and the frown vanished immediatelly, “Kill me? Now that's something. I'm even more curious now.” With that he leaned closer, brows raising playfully as he looked back at her, “What kind of dark secrets are you keeping in there, hm? I'll be totally sad if you don't tell me.” Laughing a little he moved back again, running a hand through his locks as he shook his head. He was being silly. “Kidding, kidding, you don't have to tell me. But this journal means you like to write, yes? I used to have one aswell. But that's.. at least eight years back. Pretty sure I threw it away at some point.”
