HEALTH TIPS
For anyone who’s 2018 goals includes getting in better shape, here’s some easy and quick tips from an ex-trainer:
You’re not going to change your entire lifestyle over night, or probably a month. It takes time. Work on small steps that can be altered, or added to your daily routine before you’re ready to dive into anything serious. Going to the gym consistently is all about getting in the routine, go for 2 weeks in a row and it’s a lot easier to keep going.
Drink Water. The easiest, most cliche one but it’s true
STRETCH
Warm up. Especially in these winter months, it’s important to be physically warm before exercising.
Weight lifting burns more fat than cardio
Nutrition is KEY
“Abs are made in the kitchen” is very real. Pay attention to what you’re putting in your body
You don’t have to go on a diet or meal prep (and definitely never starve yourself) but adding more healthy foods or cutting out unhealthy foods is a great step
Cut back on soda.
SLEEP.
Nobody at the gym is there to judge you. If you’re nervous about going to the gym for the first time, likely everybody else there is really only worried about themselves. Also don’t be afraid to ask the staff questions, because that’s what they’re there for.
Ask for a spot. Swallow your pride and don’t try to lift more than you can, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. It’s way better to be a temporarily embarrassed than permanently injured.
