Lets stop shaming each other for our food choices
I think one of the things that turns people off to the vegan community is this all or nothing mentality, like if youâre not 100% vegan then youâre not doing your part.
But the thing is, any shift towards a more sustainable diet is an accomplishment that we should be celebrating!! Whether thatâs acknowledging meatless Mondays, or eating local and organic, or simply eating one plant based meal, all of these things are steps in the right direction that we should be encouraging.
Diets are incredibly personal and theyâre influenced by a lot of varying life factors. Yes vegans should educate and inform and spread their passion, but I donât feel itâs fair to make others feel bad for not eating a certain way.
Remember, there was probably a time where you ate differently than you do now, and we should respect where everyone is on their diet journey.
And we should also respect any and all efforts to eat more plant based because it is the culmination of small efforts that bring about big change.

HEALTH TIPS
For anyone whoâs 2018 goals includes getting in better shape, hereâs some easy and quick tips from an ex-trainer:
Youâre not going to change your entire lifestyle over night, or probably a month. It takes time. Work on small steps that can be altered, or added to your daily routine before youâre ready to dive into anything serious. Going to the gym consistently is all about getting in the routine, go for 2 weeks in a row and itâs a lot easier to keep going.
Drink Water. The easiest, most cliche one but itâs true
STRETCH
Warm up. Especially in these winter months, itâs important to be physically warm before exercising.Â
Weight lifting burns more fat than cardio
Nutrition is KEY
âAbs are made in the kitchenâ is very real. Pay attention to what youâre putting in your body
You donât have to go on a diet or meal prep (and definitely never starve yourself) but adding more healthy foods or cutting out unhealthy foods is a great step
Cut back on soda.
SLEEP.
Nobody at the gym is there to judge you. If youâre nervous about going to the gym for the first time, likely everybody else there is really only worried about themselves. Also donât be afraid to ask the staff questions, because thatâs what theyâre there for.
Ask for a spot. Swallow your pride and donât try to lift more than you can, and donât be afraid to ask for help. Itâs way better to be a temporarily embarrassed than permanently injured.

Hellooo fitblrs! Anyone there?
Once again I have taken a tumblr hiatus throughout the uni semester but I am BACK (kind of). Basically, I've been working on my Instagram (@balanceyourplate) and using that a heck of a lot more because I find I can connect easily with a lot of other similar igs from my city/country. I really love the lil community we have on there, sharing local eateries and NZ brands etc.
> give my Insta a follow if you wanna see what I eat, where I eat and what I've been up to (aka me sitting in the library for 14 hours a day lol)
Having said all that, I do miss you guys on tumblr!! This is where I started off FIVE years ago, when I was 15 and figuring out what the hell all this 'fitspo' was about. So I am going to try and continue using this platform too. I really want to build a connection with you fellow fitblrs, even if we don't live in the same city or country!Â
 > so feel free to drop a message in my ask box, I'm always up for a chat!
