"why are you standing up for rapists?!??? we just need to kill any and all rapists!!!!!!"
The history of false rape being used against minorities is a tale as old as white supremacy itself. Please, especially if you are white, learn more about the racial history of those lives destroyed by false rape allegations, like the 9 black teenagers arrested and all but one put to death for rapes that never happened in 1931- the Scottsboro Boys. White supremacy has always used these tools. You must put down this tool as well.
Y'know being a kid (early teen) in the early 2010s made it really easy to make fun of Rebecca Black, because kids are often damn mean to each other. But looking back on it, kids weren't the ones spreading that video and mocking it. I think back to that video now, and how she looked in it... She was singing a song about riding the school bus and enjoying the weekend. She looked like a kid. She was a kid.
As an adult, I'm kind of horrified in retrospect. Grown ass adults around the globe more or less went to a middle school talent show to throw tomatoes.
Specifically older teens and 20somethings, who were sufficiently close to those awkward middle school years for it to stir up insecurities about their own awkwardness. I was an actual grown ass adult at the time (like around 40) and the vast majority of people over 30 either (a) didn’t know about it at all because they neither followed pop music nor were terminally online, or (b) shrugged their shoulders and said “yeah, rich kid shit” and went about their day.
As someone in the second category, the reaction from the college-age crowd was baffling and frankly disappointing. There was no reason to be that weird and mean simultaneously about it; it was like Black became the scapegoat for everyone’s feelings of cringe - the cringegoat, if you will.

THE SCARLET WITCH ❤️
If you see the quote "I refuse to share my body with a man who wouldn't defend it politically" or any variation of it floating around the internet — it was Kat Blaque who originally said it and she would really appreciate it if people gave her proper credit for it but it's gone viral on a lot of different platforms and most of the people sharing it don't know it's from her or choose not to credit her on purpose.
Like I just know terfs are going to be parroting it pretending it wasn't said by a black trans woman about herself & her life.
