imagine, it's three in the morning and me and you are laying in bed together, each of us doing our own things, perhaps you'll be drawing and i'll be making jewelry while a movie or cartoon or music plays in the background, both of us simply enjoying each other's presence. but suddenly i'll put down whatever i'm doing and crawl over to you and sit on your lap, you'll put your hands on my hips and on my ass and i'll wrap my arms around your neck. i'll look into your eyes and we'll both smile shyly before slowly, i lean in to you and feeling each other's breath on our lips, i'll kiss you. i'll kiss you softly and slowly and passionately, your lips moving against mine as the kiss gets rougher and faster. after a few minutes of kissing, i'll pull away and our smiles will return to our faces. i'll lean my head on your chest and you'll pull me in tighter, both of us happy with the life we have and in love for the rest of our lives.

I love how they left out the part about them giving out the lesbian couple’s personal information to send them death threats, running them out of their home, and encouraging other fundies to petition to have their children taken away. **examines fingernails**

Also the fact that they raised half million dollars from other raging homophobes to fund this bigotry. I hope the dickholes lose the shirts off their backs and have to live out of a van. But that’s too much to hope for.

I just wanna add that the lesbian couple were getting married because their mutual friend had just died of cancer and they were adopting her two daughters… and that the death threats were so bad that they had to quit their jobs and move. it’s never just about a cake. it’s about the precedent you set when you allow ppl to discriminate. it’s about all the disgusting bigots that crawl out of the woodwork when they feel like they have the right to hate.

The propoganda and misinformation surrounding this case reminds me of the McDonalds coffee lady case. It’s turned into a running joke now, a haha people are dumb and entitled kind of thing when it’s actually deeper and there was real harm and malice behind it all. 3rd degree burns and multiple other ongoing issues and literal death threats and attacking a family because religious homophobia

What is the “mcdonalds coffee lady case”?

In 1992 Stella Liebeck was served coffee at 190°F, which McDonald’s knew was hot enough to cause severe injury but was also hot enough to make the coffee last longer than if it was served at the standard 160°. In fact, before Liebeck’s case made the news, McDonald’s had already awarded settlements in roughly 700 burn incidents caused by serving their coffee at such high temperatures.

Liebeck suffered third degree burns on her thighs, pelvis, and stomach that required her to be hospitalized and receive skin grafts. She sued McDonald’s for $20,000 in order to help pay off the enormous bills from her extensive hospitalization.¹

McDonald’s, being a multi-billion-dollar corporation, slandered Ms Liebeck to the media. Their PR teams turned “woman needs to be placed into a medically induced coma so she doesn’t die of the shock caused by spilling our coffee on her lap” into “stupid greedy woman doesn’t realize coffee is hot, sues poor innocent corporation for millions”.

The jury was so affronted by McDonald’s flagrant disregard for their consumers they awarded Ms Liebeck $2,860,000

or the revenue McDonald’s made in two days exclusively from coffee sales.²

really tired of people who aren’t lesbians saying stuff like “you don’t have to call yourself a lesbian even if you are only attracted to woman! its ok to not like that label!” because while it is 100% ok to label yourself how you want, I don’t think you guys realize that the reason so many people feel uncomfortable with the word lesbian is because of the over sexualization and fetishization of our identity.

like i do not know how to tell you that the statement “a Sapphic person who fits the definition of lesbian 100% may not choose to identify as a lesbian!” is not as radical as you think it is. all i get from this statement is that we need to have more education about lesbianism as a whole because being a lesbian is not a bad thing, and I need people to stop subtlety implying that it is.
