19months post op -and its all good To anyone out there facing this surgery- best of luck! Its a long road to recovery, but if you expect not to feel normal again for at least 14months post op you will wear the up's n down's better. I can happily report I'm pain free and able to walk for at least an hour a day brisk pace.

I have found a passion for buying vintage jewellery at online auctions around the world. This is a side effect of recuperation! I bought this beautiful mother of pearl set of necklace, bracelet and earrings.
I probably will never wear it but really enjoyed playing around photographing it!

10 months post surgery and very relieved. Foot has really improved and able to walk with little pain or discomfort. Knees causing the problems now but that is a different issue and not related to the foot reconstruction. Whats important to know is that it does take the year to recover till you have useable feet again. There may be complicationsâŠ

Im back to my blog after a frustrating time -legwise. Iâm beginning to understand from a new perspective the cliche âi donât have a leg to stand onâ. this could easily turn into a self pity party so  . . . .
looking on the bright side Iâm walking short distances without crutches for the last 3 weeks! Its slow and uncomfortable but its progress.

I really didnât want to be the one writing this. Iâm still not able to walk any way normally. I walk slowly with a limp most of the time. I can walk for about 10mins before it becomes too painful. Due to get new Orthotics this week and hope they make a difference. On paper Iâm considered a success. In reality I feel like a failure. Climbing stairs is uncomfortable and I get cramps in my calfâŠ

Phsyio thinks I have an injury to a ligament in my knee, hence the pain and swelling. He said its not unusual due to the fact I havenât been walking properly for 4 months now. Im really pissed off about this as he also says if it doesnât clear up i may need knee surgery.His advice? anti-inflammateries and rest. He also suggested restricting my phsyio exercises for the next few weeks. Back toâŠ

My head feels like this picture looks. âme head is melting!â- a local phrase describes it too.
Why? (Besides 4 months of cabin fever) Â Lumps â found a lump on the sole of my foot. About the size of a chickpea and hard. Not sore to touch or walk on but very much there. Googled what it might be of course, and wished I hadnât. Lumps.

Clammy ankles and sadistic physioâs mmmh. . . . . . my very nice phsyio has a sadistic streak. He knows my weak spots.
Unplugged, Unhinged and screwed
Got the plug removed and it has made a big difference. Able to bear some weight on my foot without that âpinchingâ sharp pain associated with the plug. On my X-ray the plug is the white little round âpebbleâ between the ankle bones. Its job was to keep the foot aligned. Unplugged.
Week after the operation-told by the Physio to âget off your knee walker!â and âwalkâ. Easier said than done. So itâsâŠ

Pain, plugs and pleasure.
The morning of my 2nd surgery. Trying to put weight on my foot has been almost impossible due to the pain caused by the âplugâ type implant inserted between the ankle bones to keep the foot aligned. So today its coming out! Pain.
A general anaesthetic is required and Iâm getting nervous. I keep having the silly thought that because the first surgery was  long and major and with a heart murmurâŠ

Phsyio, pain and paedophiles Had my 3rd session of physiotherapy this morning. It involved a very nice Phsyio and a lot of rough treatment along the scar tissue.
