Going a little insane over how love in tma isn't always enough or even a good thing. Over how love is so so important in this show but often makes things so much worse. Jons stalking wouldnt have shaken Tim so much if he didnt care so much about him, once. Martin's role as The Lover and how deeply in love he is for a long time cant be an anchor from the lonely because its a direct cause of it. Jack never wouldve gotten permanently burned if Agnes didnt genuinely love him and enjoy the time they spent together. The corruptions entire deal, the way that Jane loving something like this makes her feel like she isnt a Person, like nobody's a person, because shes so drowned in (metaphorical) abuse she can only see the world through the lens of this relationship. Daisy and Basira loving each other actively keeps them from becoming better people and actually changing their world views at all for ages, to the point they only start to become better When Separated in a way where they're also separated from their shared ideology. Love is so extremely important in this show, love saves people love ruins people love makes them keep going even when theres nothing good waiting and love is the reason they stay in hell. Its so...

As thematically parallel as they are, Wolf 359 and Project Hail Mary would be difficult to cross over because the settings provide fundamentally opposite conflicts. In PHM interstellar travel is unprecedented and extremely difficult, deadly to the traveler and requiring global political cooperation to even make happen. In W359, interstellar travel is… certainly not easy, but a fact of life, which has been happening since the 1970s and is monopolized by an evil corporation. In PHM it takes 12 years to go 11 light-years to Tau Ceti; in W359 it takes three months to go 7.8 light-years to the eponymous star. While difficult the Wolfverse has FTL travel, it’s just that Goddard Futuristics is the only supplier in town, and also they’re evil. The conflicts don’t mesh well.

… however. Assuming we push the timeline of Wolf 359 up to the 2020s and then astrophage shows up… I am loving the image of Eva Stratt and Marcus Cutter continuously having very polite and formal clashes to each other’s faces, and then each one of them keeps trying to have the other assassinated to get them out of the way.

taakitz is actually extremely funny in the context that both taako and kravitz seemingly gravitated towards each other because they were longing for an anchor, something stable and simple as a break from their chaotic and incredibly high stakes jobs that had taken over their lives, and for this they both chose the weirdest most insane goddamn person theyd ever met. and it worked

the difference i think is that kravitz knows taako is an insane weirdo and is both concerned and intrigued by whatever hes got going on. whereas taako is taako and also grew up with lup so he thinks kravitz is pretty much normal. hes just got a weird job. dont we all.

Back in 2013, I posted a Welcome to Night Vale fic and someone commented, “I’m autistic and I see myself a lot in the way you write Carlos. Did you intend for him to autistic?”

And I was like “I’m flattered you think so! No, he’s not intended to be autistic, but I’m glad you can see yourself in him.”

Now twelve years later I spent some time this evening trying to track down that comment to give a very belated clarification. Whoever you were stranger, hey. I only said no because I based Carlos heavily on me, and since I wasn’t autistic, Carlos wouldn’t be either. Well.
