Happy holidays, aviators! As a gift from us to you, we are bringing back Comment Bingo! In case you missed it last time, Top Gun Comment Bingo is a fandom event where you can sign up to receive a bingo card with prompts, with the goal of spreading love by commenting on fanworks to fill your bingo card. You can sign up with this form [link] at any moment before the end of the event.

Only works within Top Gun fandom are eligible.

In a change from last time, a work can cover more than one sqaure! However, there are rules: You can only use a fic twice and it cannot be used in the same row, column, or diagonal.

Unless a prompt says otherwise, please select works that you have not commented on previously.

It goes without saying but leaving negative comments is against the spirit of the event.

Mark the title of the fanwork on your card after leaving the comment. If it's hosted on a different platform than ao3, please share the name of the website.

To submit your card for prize claiming on Tumblr, post your marked card (or your card + a text list of prompts/fills, if you did not mark/edit the card directly) and mention @topguncommentbingo in your post.

If you don’t have a tumblr or don’t want to post your card, you can email [email protected] or submit via the same communication channel we used to send you your card.

Prizes

Q: I've signed up -- when will I get my card? A: Cards will be sent daily as signups come in. Please allow us up to 24 hours to send you your card after completing the form.

Q: What if I don't like one or more prompts on my card? A: You can swap your card once if there's a prompt you want to avoid. To swap your card, contact us with the unwanted prompt via the same communication channel we used to send the card within 3 days of receiving your card. A mod will then send you an updated card.

Q: I don't want NFSW prompts! A: You can request a SFW-only card.

Q: Editing a photo to mark prompts complete is hard... is there an alternative? A: Yes! You can ask to receive a list of all prompts on your card in plain text. We will accept a plain-text list of fills, as long as each fill is clearly associated with the prompt. When submitting a plain-text fill list, please also show your card so the mods know your card layout and can confirm bingo completion.

Q: Does this event include RPF? A: Yes, comments on RPF works centered around TG actors can be used as fills for your card.

Q: What about self-inserts and /Reader fic? A: Yes, these works also count toward fills, as they are still set in the Top Gun universe and include Top Gun characters.

Q: I literally cannot complete a bingo/blackout with only fanworks I have not commented on before. Can I mark fills by commenting on works I've commented on previously? A: You are a commenting beast (positive)! Sure, start double-commenting.

It’s too fucking late for this, but Jake shook him awake an hour ago, and now they’re driving to some mysterious location.

“Have you finally snapped? Is this when you murder me?” Bradley grumbles.

Jake laughs. “You’d love that. Me ruining my career and life just to get back at you.”

“Plus, I’d haunt your ass so hard.”

“Plus that,” Jake concedes.

“Seriously, where are we going?” 

“Give me a second, geez.”

It’s way more than a second, but when they pull into a field, and aurora borealis lights up the sky, Bradley snaps his mouth shut. Fine, Jake wins.

Ice had warned Maverick before they set out for their hike, but Maverick took one look at the clear sky and scoffed. Now, they were huddled under an overhang of boulders as sheets of rain poured down around them.

“Don’t say it,” Maverick warned, trying not to shiver. The skies opened up before they could get to shelter, and unlike Ice, who was warm in the extra windbreaker he’d packed, Maverick had nothing but his soaked clothes.

Rolling his eyes, Ice rummaged through his backpack. He pulled out an extra sweatshirt and handed it to Maverick with a soft smile.

“I never wrote in marshmallows.”

Jake frowns, snatching the paper out of Bradley’s hand. “Look right here!” He huffs, indignant, and shows Bradley.

“That says macaroni.”

“It clearly says marshmallow.”

“It clearly says macaroni.”

“It unclearly says macaroni. Jesus. Who taught you how to write?”

The door slams, and Mav looks up from the Mustang manual. He didn't expect Bradley back from the Hard Deck for a few more hours.

"Whoa, what got you this rattled?"

"It's just-!" Rooster starts, but reins the anger in. "Hangman," he says tiredly, as if it explains everything. When Mav leans forward, Rooster sinks to the couch with a heavy sigh. "He keeps needling me about everything! My flying, my moustache, my crush on you, my drink choices..."

Mav stands up and closes in, no longer listening to the rant. He cups Bradley’s cheek gently.

“A crush… on me?”

"Of course I do," Ice huffs, but Mav can read the worry in the crinkle of his forehead.

"Your speech is perfect," he reminds Ice. "Sure, it could use more excitement..."

"That a compliment?" Tom comments dryly, but Mav doesn't let it dissuade him.

"...but the brass is going to eat it up." Mav smirks. "Like they say, just imagine them all naked. And if that doesn’t help, imagine me naked instead.”

It works: Tom laughs and finally loosens up.

It’s been days, Ice hasn’t said a word, so Slider doesn’t ask permission when he enters Ice’s room and climbs into bed with him. The bunks are too small for a grown man, let alone two, but Slider doesn’t care. If it weren’t for Ice’s huffing as they clumsily rearrange their limbs, it’d almost be like Ice didn’t even notice Slider’s presence.

As it is, Slider gets them to lay, chest to back. He slides an arm around Ice’s middle and nuzzles those frosted tips, feeling Ice relax against him.

“Thank you,” Ice murmurs. Slider squeezes his stomach.

“Anytime, brother.”

Jake was careful as he pulled back the covers and slipped into bed beside Mav, freshly showered after a night out. Still, the motion roused Mav from his sleep, and he slid over, pressing his body against Jake’s. 

“Sorry,” Jake murmured, trying not to disturb the quiet. “Didn’t think I’d be out so late.” 

Despite Mav’s assurances, Jake sometimes worried that Mav would tire of Jake’s social life. Mav preferred quieter nights at home, and while Jake loved their time alone, he also craved nights out with friends.

“Doesn’t matter,” Mav said sleepily. “Long as you come home to me.”

Jake has glared at their waitress no less than five times since they sat down. A record for him, who already seems to alternate between a sneer and smirk constantly.

“You have nothing to be jealous about,” Bradley jokes.

“I’m not jealous,” Jake fires back immediately. “She’s just not being very professional.”

“She’s a waitress. Flirting for tips is practically part of the job description. You’re just jealous it’s not with you.”

Jake snorts. “My type skews more male and mustached, thank you very much.”

Mav darted furtive glances around the room. True, nobody really seemed to be looking at them, although Polo from the 123rd caught his eye and gave a silent toast. Mav nodded back.

“Yeah.” Mav relaxed the tension in his shoulders. “Okay.”

Ice squeezed his hand. Mav squeezed back.

“Done! Thirty-six seconds!” Jake slammed his phone down on the wooden tabletop and smirked at Bradley, who was snarling at his phone, his fingers flying over the keyboard as he tried to finish the day’s mini crossword. “Trouble Bradshaw?”

“Shut up,” Bradley grumbled, eyes glued to his phone.

Jake watched in silence until Bradley huffed and dropped his phone onto the wooden table.

Smirking, Jake asked, “Time?

“Shut up.” Bradley glowered.

“You know I can see it in the app.” Jake picked up his phone to prove the point.

“Fine. A minute twenty-three. But you,” Bradley said, leaning over to poke Jake in the chest, “had an unfair advantage.”

“That’s what tripped you up?” Jake did his best to look disappointed.

“Don’t give me that face. I know the Longhorns. I know the Sooners. I know the Red Raiders, for god’s sake. How am I supposed to know a TCU Athlete is a Horned Frog?”

Jake made his way to sit on Bradley’s lap. “Because you love me and know Texas sports rivalries are part of the package.” He punctuated his point with a soft kiss.

“Fair enough,” Bradley acquiesced and turned his attention to his lap full of Jake.
