Got a lil idea for the Fangpyre chapter
How bout we make that a Zane focused one?
Tales from the Devourer Dynasty
The Fangpyre chapter is where the ninja find this eerie village. There is an old man on the outside warning them not to enter the village and that he was one of the only survivors. (I guess it should be after the Hypnobrai chapter?)
They decide to enter the village anyway and encounter... An empty village and a huge palace!!
The Fangpyre Devourer's sorcerer swoops down from the palace with *epic organ music* and she... invites them for a feast?
They are all taken to their bedrooms along with a few more clueless wanderers seeking refuge until suddenly in the dead of midnight... ONE OF THE CLUELESS WANDERERS GO MISSING!!!!
After the 2nd or 3rd go missing (or until one of their own), the ninja decide to stay in the same room with the rest for better security, and hold a secret meeting to conclude what's going on
They already have a sneaking suspicion that the sorcerer is behind the disappearances. And they decide to try and sneak around the palace to find the missing people
Zane finds a diary with no named author and half of the contents missing, but with handwriting that looks extremely familiar... It... It couldn't be him, right?
Zane almost gets caught by the sorcerer, but he's saved by that old man from earlier. The old man has grown tired of people ignoring his warnings and didn't want to see another life be claimed by the Fangpyre Devourer.
And he explains that he used to live in this village with his younger brother Hibernus, the former elemental master of Ice, who had left to fight a war. Hibernus returned with a story about how he had met this fascinating creation in Birchwood Forest, it was all he could talk about for a while.
A few years later, the Sorcerer and a recently hatched Fangpyre Devourer arrive in a carriage and attack the village and capture everyone, either turning them into fangpyre zombies or having the Fangpyre Devourer... well... devour them!
Hibernus and his brother were placed in the dungeon to eventually be eaten. Hibernus no longer had his elemental powers so he obviously couldn't use those, it didn't help that he was also pretty old. He eventually managed to free everyone in the dungeon and helped lead everyone to the gates of the village.
Fangpyre Devourer, now a bit bigger from all the devouring, started to chase them, with Hibernus realising that someone must stay behind to close the gates.
His brother begged for him to go with them but Hibernus smiled and pushed him outside the village, closing the gates successfully. Hibernus could be heard screaming in agony on the other side, until... nothing! The Fangpyre Devourer had eaten him!
The old man chooses to stay near the village, warning travelers to never come in, so that none may suffer the same fate, but no one listens to him! And he always hears screams from newer victims every night, even hallucinating his brother's on occasions
The old man realises, seeing Zane use his powers, that he was the fascinating creation Hibernus talked about and that his powers were transferred to him somehow. Zane also discovers the 2nd half of the diary he found earlier and also managed to realise that Hibernus was the author, with details of his encounter with Zane and his plans to return one day and train him.
A few more people get captured, and half of the ninja. Leading to Zane reuniting with the remaining ninja and hatching a plan to find everyone with the help of the old man, who knows where the dungeon is.
They free everyone and head towards the gate, with Zane and the ninja staying behind to fight (he even smiles at the old man like Hibernus did in his final moments)
Although, unlike before, the ninja succeeded in defeating the Fangpyre Devourer, who gets buried by the dungeon while the sorcerer secretly gets away.
The old man hugs Zane and knows that he can finally move on.
Then the ninja proceed to drive away, in search for the other Devourers
