What’s your fantasy?
I wake up, my debt is all paid off, my bank account is full, my relationships with my family are healthy, and I’m able to travel anywhere in the world.

*6th grader voice* put your head down your shirt and spell attic
Uncertainty haunts me because the inconsistency of my youth My mother’s words never meant the same Sometimes they would explode creating a forest fire with smoke so dense I could barely breathe Other times her words would just lightly crackle, like popcorn in an overheated steel pan Unpredictable, but with good intentions Sometimes they would spark, like a match on the side of the box, A fair warning to seal my lips. And sometimes her words would sooth me, like sweet honey on a sore throat But I was never sure And between expecting a gentle wave and receiving a thunderstorm there lies a bittersweet realization that saying nothing at all is really all I can do At 6 years old I was scared to death of the monster in my closet. And confusion is a tough monster to beat when you don’t know what sets it off My mother used to scream at it until her voice died out and I think the alcohol in her breath only made it stronger When she kisses me goodnight I wonder if she will scold me tomorrow for something she praised me today

and i don’t know how i feel about missing you
