what is fan week
simply, a week's worth of prompts with the aim in inspiring some great torchwood related fan works, which are then posted during the week in question for us all to enjoy
how do i participate in the fan week
if there is currently one running (currently not, keep your eyes peeled) then find the prompts list and get creating! if there is not currently one running, then don't be shy to find old prompt lists and have at 'em. the ao3 collection is only open during the active week, but so-called 'late' entries will still be added to the masterlist, just be sure to tag this account so i see it!

what counts as a fan work?
anything you want! art, fic, video edits, metas, analysises, character studies, collages, gifs, a nice little crotecheted myfanwy. all of it! you can't go wrong!
can i post...?
yes. the answer is almost certainly yes. its only a no if your work has absolutely zilch to do with torchwood, which frankly is unlikely. fandom crossovers, obscure big finish characters, 'pre-canon', ocs, and anything else along these lines is 100% welcome
how do i post?
here on tumblr! tag this blog and/or tag your post with #torchwood fan week and i'll be sure to see and add it to the masterlist. for works on other sites, such as fics posted to ao3, your tumblr post can just be a link to the fic. additionally, there is an ao3 collection for fics, open during the week of the event
do i have to...?
no <3 you can do whatever you fancy really. you can only do the one prompt that you like, do five different versions of the same prompt cos you couldn't decide. you can mash them all into one. you can purposefully misinterpret a prompt and take it off somewhere weird, whatever floats your boat

#torchwood fan week masterlist - all three of them! despite there only being two fan weeks! how does that work? well one of them came through the rift, i think its from the future. this is the place to find a wonderful treasure trove of fan works (you're all brilliant i love you)
i sort of have the idea to coincide fan week with the 20th anniversary of the series, which would mean fan week plays out from the 19th october (22nd being the anniversary). i'd make sure prompts are out with plenty of time to write (probably in july) cos im aware people might have their own ideas they want to create for the anniversary and don't want to get in the way yknow?
so, tldr: 20th anniversary fan week starting 19th october + early prompts? yay or nay folks?

Summary: In which Jack being in a committed relationship with his girlfriend is very helpful in getting him with Ianto (and yes, the girlfriend knows and approves).
In honour of today being confessions on the torchwood fan week, hereās one of mine:
i donāt think Jack is the Face of Boe. It really doesnāt make sense in canon, not with everything we see in both torchwood and doctor who. I think in real life it was interesting but not well thought out idea that never got followed up on.
In canon, i think Jack said his āface of boeā line just to mess with the doctor. in a friendly pranking sort of way. I know he says heās slowly aging, but i donāt think thatās true. At that point heās only a couple hundred years old, and after the two thousand years buried he doesnāt change at all. especially because his only sign of aging is the odd grey hair, which could definitely just be the extra stress of him now running his own team.
As for why Jack would do this, to me there are two possible explanations. one, he has a tendency to just generally be a lot more silly with the doctor, so this very well could just be him just playing a silly little light hearted prank. second, Jack knows about the guilt The Doctor tends to carry with him. maybe after seeing The Doctor go through the year that never was, he wanted to make him feel less guilty by making him think Jack would eventually be able to die.
Again, this is just my own personal opinion and in no way canon.
Emily ordinarily must extend a close eye to her newspapers as she reads over breakfast, attending carefully to every line for the potential of phantasmagoria and extraterrestrials hidden below the every-day minutiae of life in Cardiff, but on this morning the task is accomplished for her quite easily by the journalist himself.
āWhat do you make of this, Miss Guppy?ā asks Emily, removing the front page of The Cardiff Times and passing it across the table to Alice.
