Kital - Life, Joy, and Defiance (Lizardfolk Cleric)
Deep within the jungles of Chult lies a small village, hidden from the world in the thick undergrowth. Kital, like many of her peers, was trained in the art of healing from early on. Unlike her peers, however, she never settled on the core philosophy of her people. With every life lost, they said it was inevitable. With every life lost, she grew ever more defiant.
Though she only found a book of prayers dedicated to the goddess on some poor unfortunate, Kital decided to put her faith in Lliira, a goddess of joy and life. She traveled Chult, in something she would have liked to call a pilgrimage, but only found a small altar dedicated to the goddess along the way. When she returned to her tribe, she had the tools she needed to defy the inevitable.
For a while, all was well. Those who died could come to life soon enough, and though she had initially started her pilgrimage to fight inevitability, it was now used as an explanation as to why the dead rose to life again. Nevertheless, she continued her training, happy to finally make a change in their previously apathetic lives.
At some point, she was confronted with something completely new. Her companions fell ill soon after resurrection, wasting away to some unseen disease, and she was left unable to do anything about it. Looking for answers, she turned to her goddess, and then to the rest of Chult. This wasting disease would have affected them earlier if it came from the jungle. No, this came from somewhere else, and all she knows, is that it’s preying on her people. She now takes what she learned with her, ready to fight fate once more.
