Degree Show, 2018
For my degree show I wanted to create something that would show the decay and the actual action of a memory in a state of decay, so I decided that I wanted to take some of my drawings from the memoryscape images and do an acrylic pour over the frames. I had played around with adding paintings over the top of my images before and decided that the actual physical act of distorting them was important to me, rather than letting a computer do it.
The memory displayed in the image will never be seen in full by the viewer but they instead get partial hints, bits and pieces of a story. It is then up to the viewer to build the rest of the image, hopefully thinking about their own memories in the mean time.
Timelines, 2018 i had some extra room in my degree show space so I decided to do this small sculpture. I took empty frames and tied them together with string. I wanted something to represent the connections that we make throughout our lives which is represented through the string connection all these frames together. And the frames are there to represent the memories we have of these connections.

With this I wanted to show how inter-grained we are with our technology, how it consumes us. While yes technology can be helpful and is massively good for the world, there are downsides. Such as the effect of social media on young adults and how we can recreate ourselves into a completely different person online.
This is a work in progress.
I wanted to show the contrasts between old and new technology, especially focusing on the way that we can take selfies so easily now but in historical times you’d have to get a painting or a sculpture to have a likeness of yourself. And even then they were generally only made of kings and queens or gods. Now we can post photos online whenever we want and have hundreds and thousands of followers like it.
I just wanted to show a contrast between the typical marble statue against what would be made today.

More exploration with HexFiend, I like how these edits turned out a lot more than my last batch. Not quite sure how I achieved them though. Doing this project has really helped me to be able to look through my old photos more and look back at memories. It is quite daunting seeing them corrupted like this though, it gives me a slight bit of anxiety though
I found this programme called Hex Fiend, that converts images into binary code which you can then edit and change. Sometimes when you change the image it can create a glitch, and its interesting trying to figure out what part of the image links up to the binary code. I want to play around with this a bit more and see what kind of images I can create.
