❝R--really? That’s a coincidence!❞ Come to think of it, she does recall witnessing Julius and her classmate at her dwelling district from time to time. There are a few talks about Julius -- certain matters that she does not understand -- but now, Nova feels that he is a rather kind person... ❝Oh, I love Maths. The stuff that makes sense, at least.❞

He took the child’s hand, while slipping his swords back into the sheath. “Lets be off then, before they wake up,” he said, taking one last glance at the unconscious males. They wouldn’t be waking up any time soon. “Which way is it to your place?” He began walking them away from the more secluded alleys, to a more open area - it was much safer, and probably more familiar to the child.

An incomprehensible warmth unfurls from her hand, right where it is firmly grasped in the older boy’s own and soon -- she is led into complete safety. Glancing around ( whilst attempting to divert attention from the temptation to indulge in the hold ), she quickly notes her surroundings before providing answers in her shyer, softened voice.

Julius gave off a soft smile, relieved that he had gotten there in time. “That’s a relief. Lets get you out of here before these guys wake up, okay? I’ll walk you home so that if any scary guys come again, I’m here to make sure nothing bad happens again.” He offered her his hand, innocent and non-threatening - he didn’t want to scare her off, especially with the whole incident that had just happened.

❝O--Okay!❞ Shyly, the petit girl places her hand in his hold. She sometimes overheard teachers mentioning that Ludger’s brother is an agent among themselves ( although, she has little clue to what it was ). Her saviour is undoubtedly strong and courageous, to be able to emerge victorious even when in face of a disadvantage of numbers. He is almost like a prince.

Noting the sudden darkness caused by feminine palms covering his orbs, a low chuckle escaped him before his lips parted to answer her. “Nova? Is that you?” He had guessed by her voice alone, not that her slender fingers were another giveaway but it had added hints to who it could’ve done this. A small smile formed on his visage as he lowered the papers onto his lap, the pen forgotten since it dropped onto the table nearby.

❝Bingo! I imagined I couldn’t have fooled ya.❞ The banker turn her heels to stroll towards her seat at the opposite side of the table and makes herself comfortable. She frequents the company to visit ( or gossip with ) her twin sister but most of her inquiries were regarding whether if Ludger is boding well. Her undying concern for her friends are never secreted, as opposed to Vera’s flair in maintaining professionalism. ❝Working hard as always, mister president. But even on lunch break? Man, you’re going to get all that sauce dripping on those papers.❞

He didn’t want anything to do with her but seeing how the woman went out of her way to obtain food for him, he allowed her entry into his abode despite his unfriendly greeting earlier. Victor was capable of maintaining his manners but not today, she had caught him at a moment where he was content with the state of things. “Thank you.” He spoke to her like a stranger yet that was on purpose in an attempt to create further distance between them.

❝Geez, there is no need for a thanks between friends. I just figured that I’d better step in before you starve yourself.❞ Despite the coherent impertinence, she exhibits little signs of offense. Whilst she may comprehend barely half of Ludger’s inner turmoil, she -- at least -- acknowledges the surface of his anguish. Losing a loved one will cripple anyone -- and Nova is voluntary to step in to prevent her dear ones from slipping from the string edge of life. She deems Ludger as strong, persevering but even those require someone to hold their fort.

Julius had been on his way back home from an unsuccessful trip in job hunting when he heard the cry for help. He didn’t hesitate in dropping all that he was doing to follow the cry - Ludger, his (new) younger brother, could take care of himself for a few more hours. He dashed to where he had heard the voice, pulling out his swords, as he went. What he saw when he got to the alley disgusted him - he’d seen this way too many times as a street kid, and if he didn’t know how to defend himself back then, he would have ended up in the same situation. It was with great pleasure that he leapt in, striking the strange men down without any hesitation. Men down - though not dead, seeing as that he didn’t particularly want to be found on Spirius radar just yet, Julius turned to the frightened girl, recognizing her in an instant. He knelt down, placing his swords down. “Hey, you okay? You’re Nova, right? I’m Julius, your classmate Ludger’s older brother. Are you hurt? Did they do anything bad to you?”

Her dainty fingers instinctively shield her sight when her wrist was abruptly liberated, perhaps frightened of what the bulky teenagers intend to condemn her with. Clashes resonate within their narrowed space and only did a few thuds steel her will to peek through her fingers. When the voice speaks of a classmate she is acquainted with, she allows hands to lay rest on her lap to view her saviour.

“Y-Yes, my name is Nova.” Ludger’s brother. Yes, her librarian memory does recognise him from one of those who attended the parents’ conference in school. “Oh... I wasn’t hurt. They didn’t manage to before you stepped in. Uhm... thank you very much.”

“That wouldn’t do. Here, let us big brothers help you find your way outta here.” She’d remember how her mother once reminded her not to accept assistance from a stranger, especially those lurking in dodgy alleyways and possessed a dubious vibe. What truly alerts her senses is when her wrist is instantaneously grasp -- as though they are too eager to whisk her away !! “No--! Let go!”

Picking up on that familiar voice, he had stripped away all of his past belongings, including dying his hair a dark ebony and took on a new name to reflect the change. He stepped towards his front door, slowly unlocked it and the door swung on its hinges to reveal her standing at his doorstep. “What do you want?”

Truth to be told, she was initially intimidated by the slice of harshness in Ludger’s voice but she steels herself in lieu of adverting her concern from a friend. Everyone ( Ludger’s former friends ) advised her from contacting the prominent president of Spirius and they does so without proffering reasons. She comprehends that she knows no further than a small fraction of Ludger’s life -- but she still persists to be a voice when no one will. ❝I figured that you wouldn’t go out often so I bought some groceries. Don’t even ask me how I know that -- call it women’s intuition.❞

Time Skip — Lunch break

Time had passed since then and he had gotten one-quarter of his paperwork finished, he was doing with a careful hand as he wanted this company to thrive on the reforms he placed upon it. He took it all in stride and when lunch came, he marched out of his office and made his way to where he’d sit during the break and work on some light papers that had no value compared to the rest he was in the middle of doing before.

Her break time is due and hence it will ensue a short reunion with an old friend. Her steps are light as it carries the buoyancy that thrives in her typical disposition. One may refer her as an airhead ( capable of being insensitively oblivious ) but how dearly she guilelessly believes in smiling through the day -- even if pressed under thumbs. The amble comes to a halt when she arrives at his seat and a mischievous motivation will trigger the gesture of shielding both of the twin pools of turquoise with her adept hands. ❝Guess who?❞
