âHey, are you a magician? âCuse every time I look at you, everything else disappears.â the Hypnotist gave the Consig his award winning smile. She rolled her eyes in response and bent over to continue reading on her next targetâs short profile.
âAw, come on, please go on one date with me,â he entreated, forming puppy eyes.
âHell to the no, any girl with any kind of common sense knows not to trust a womanizer,â she retorted. He raised an eyebrow.
âAre you dating someone?â
âNo,â The consigliereâs face went red. âI-Iâm just not interested in you!â
âAh, but why deny your attraction when itâs so obvious?â
Over the next few days, the Consigliere noticed the Hypnotist was quieter. Instead of ostentiously flirting with the Consort or Forger, he simply sat reading a book. However, whenever he saw her, he still relentlessly pursued her , which she ignored the best she could without being too mean.
One particular night, the Consigliere was returning back to the base to return her information when someone grabbed her shoulder near the door. Automatically, she screamed and tried to get her attacker off her, to no avail. The hooded figure started dragging her away and she resisted as best she could when the Hypnotist came out of nowhere and worked his magic to distract the shadow. The lady pulled down his hood to find the Vigilante in a trance now.
âT-thank youâŠâ The Consigliere ducked her head in embarrassment and the Hypnotist winked.
âAny time for a smart and beautiful lady~â
âOkay, you can stop right there.â
âHey, since I saved you, I think you owe me something.â The Hypnotist smirked. The Consigliere scoffed, even though he was right. He did protect her from that guy, so she supposed she (unfortunately) did owe him.
âLike what?â She crossed her arms.
âLike a date.â he answered, grinning cheekily.
âFine. One date.â she huffed. âI suppose you want to do it now?â For once, the Hypnotist looked rather surprised.
âWell, only if you want to. Do you know any places that could be open this late?â
âIt's not fancy, but I know a diner we could go to.â
Both were quiet on the walk there, and the Consigliere studied him out of her peripheral vision.
âI have a question, Hypnotist.â
âWhy do you keep on flirting with me and not other people?â The Consigliere crossed her arms again, trying to avoid looking at him.
âIsnât that obvious? Youâre pretty smart, I wouldâve thought you figured that out by now.â the Hypnotist winked, teasing her.
âNot really.â she muttered back. He stopped walking and faced her.
âWell - you see - itâs because I like you a lot. Youâre pretty and smart and itâs hard not to be attracted to that. You mentioned not wanting to date a womanizer, so Iâve tried to change that.â he admitted softly, his facade dropping.
She stared at him, at a loss for words for once. Silently, with a blush, she took a step and hugged him.
