Basically where I reblog stuff I like. Will probably be lizards, adhd, wolves, GF, bjhm, bnha, atla, space, nature photos, and maybe Steven Universe for a while.
Gets stuck in the past and makes a random village get way smarter and less violent in a generational sense because I keep smacking people over the head with a stick and telling them that it’s the devil’s metal whenever they try to use lead for something in my presence and there develops a very niche regionalized superstition that an angry warlock will jump out of a tree and beat the shit out of you if you touch lead with your bare hands
Gets excommunicated by the Catholic Church for telling people that they can banish the devil from their water if they boil it therefore saving hundreds of people from a cholera outbreak but I don’t care and keep trying to convince the locals to use soap more often
Gets seen as crazy when I say I’m distilling peppermint oil to banish the miasma but people start asking to have some real quick when the Black Death comes to town and I am unaffected due to my constantly minty fresh house repelling rodents and fleas alike
Witch burnings were very specifically a mid 1500s to mid 1600s phenomenon and I went back further than that so I’m fine as long as I don’t try to convince people that the earth revolves around the sun.
“Because the truth is, tech doesn’t have an image problem. It doesn’t have a message problem. It has an intention problem. What’s wrong with the axe murderer who broke into my house is not that he hasn’t successfully persuaded me to buy into his narrative. What’s wrong is that he’s trying to kill me with an axe. Similarly, when you launch a product that’s designed to put millions of people out of work, block access to sources of verifiable truth, replace human creativity with slop, and lower the barriers to every sort of atrocity, the problem isn’t that you haven’t told the public a good story about those things. The problem is that you are trying to do them.”

Here’s an old aro meme from 2011, which was before the rise of the “Ace Discourse” around 2015 (which may have started out as backlash in response to The Trevor Project deciding to include asexual people around that time). This meme format uses an aardvark to represent aromantic people. At the time, axolotls were often used in similar memes to represent asexuals, so the aromantic aardvark was chosen as the aromantic equivalent of the asexual axolotl. Aardvarks were considered to be somewhat of a mascot for the aromantic community for some time, though they have become less popular as a symbol in recent years.
Ahehehe <333 a little reunion scene between @liz-the-box ‘s Splotch and my Game of Gods AU Ford <333 I love collaborative multiverse time they make me sick. Individual images under the cut for higher resolution<333
It was supposed to be one of the first things I posted on my blog, but I wanted to add that little watermark thing I have, and ended up forgetting about it.
I like how it turned out, though you can definitely tell it was my first digital drawing of Zuko (or at least the first one I actually rendered? I don't remember).
ok so for changeling stan, if the curse or whatever breaks and things become as they were originally, what would that look like to other people? would they notice the change or would they continue with their lives but now the roles would be correct?
for the former i can see the pines horrified when they learn that the thing that they treated like their son/twin was not their son/twin and the person they treated like a moster/leach was.
What a good question that is. One, which I've been pondering myself recently.
Looking at the first blurb I wrote, the name switch had them switch how people perceived them over night, so it stands to reason it would be the same when they get their original names back.
Well…that's also what I originally intended to happen.
Stan gets his name back and everyone else gets to deal with how badly they treated Stan. Meanwhile Stan is confused and terrified at the change in their behaviour towards him.
He can’t help it. He grew up with people only being nice to him if they have an ulterior motive and want to use him for whatever nefarious reasons.
Someone smiling at him and asking how he’s doing? It’ll activate his fight or flight instinct!
It’s very fun 🥰
Recently I’ve been considering something a little bit different though.
Something a little bit crueler perhaps :D
[And also an excuse to continue this fic that I might never write down.]
So the gang [whoever that might be] finds out what the changeling really is and kills him.
Of course they struggle a lot with it, but logically they know that what they’re feeling towards the changeling is actually what they feel towards this Stan, whose mere presence repulses them.
So they go up against the changeling, kill him and expect the feelings to change.
They don’t.
For them it’s like they just killed Stan.
They were wrong. They love the changeling and they killed him. For WHAT?! For this other spare twin that they never liked?
So what if he was a changeling? They loved him and the feelings not going away just proves it!
Now, if they were to just turn around and look at Stan things might’ve gone differently. Now that the changeling and his connection to Stan is gone, they’re capable of caring about this young man who doesn’t know what it feels like to be liked, let alone loved, but they don’t.
They’re currently wailing over the dead body of their Stanley. And by the time someone thinks of Stan he is long gone [, and grappling with the fact that it was never the changeling that made him unlovable.]
The feelings they had towards the changeling stay the same and so does their grief but technically they’re now able to remember Stan and see just how broken and mistreated he truly is.
But Stan is gone and on the run, thinking they would kill him next for making them kill someone they loved.
Man, both of these options are pretty fucked for everyone involved
And here in my version of the au, I was thinking they’d break the curse by sneaking into the fae realm, forcing a meeting with the fae high council and bribing/threatening them into reversing the curse
However, unfortunately Stan and ford discover that for anyone who didn’t already have protection against fae magic/mind and memory manipulation, the breaking of the curse kind of… screws up their memories.
So for Shermie, their parents, and anyone else who knew them as a kid, they kind of… can’t remember there being a third Stan. They only remember ford and Stanley, not an unwanted child who always felt “wrong” in their household that they neglected.
So if they saw Stan, they would recognize him as their kid and a perfectly normal human. But if they tried to reminisce, anything they remember that happened post changeling, well, Stan wouldn’t be able truly reminisce with them. Because they’re not remembering Stan, they’re remembering the changeling, and Stan either wasn’t there or was in the background. So Stan still feels alienated from the rest of his family besides ford. Like an imposter. Plus, since they can’t remember mistreating him, that means he’ll never get an apology or closure from anyone besides ford.
yeah another thing that gets me abt Lars & Steven is that Lars is like. probably the person who would understand Steven's "traumatized child turned to extremely emotionally volatile teenager" situation the most. Like yeah. Same. Worse on the emotionally volatile part actually. Heavy on the anger. Admittedly no superpowers yet. but hbfhdksf like he GETS IT he UNDERSTANDS he's more than been there before, damn he was stuck there for 2+ years that Steven knew him through. he knows the panic & sadness turned to anger turned to explosion turned to self hatred he knows it so fucking well, and while he definitely didn't deal with it well in the moment, he's much more adjusted to it now. He's not as young as Steven (though still stuck with the brain of an 18 year old...) but he's still got advice hanging around I'm sure. Not that he's perfect but it's still advice. He knows what Steven's going through and honestly even if he didn't have advice, he's still the one person who gets it the most. And like Steven mentions, he's always real with him... he's the perfect person to talk to about this, he won't judge and he won't try to make things seem better than they are, he'll just nod along and agree with how much it absolutely totally sucks. He understands the anger, he understands the magic, he understands the self destruction. He gets it.
he's a magic hair portal away in space which is a little inconvenient but he's still there and still gets it
i think if you showed minecraft or fortnite to a little medieval peasant boy he would probably start writing parodies of church hymns. it’s human nature
