i’m sorry anon, but shipping a semicanon queer ship does not magically absolve someone of homophobia. and the byler fandom does have a serious problem with homophobia directed towards will.

headcanoning will as bisexual when he’s explicitly written as gay, masculinizing him and erasing his canonical gender nonconformity, spreading harmful rhetoric about gay bars and the aids crisis, making jeffery dhamer jokes, writing his epilogue boyfriend as abusive, making him “mikesexual” and demonizing his relationships with other men, completely ignoring his arc surrounding his sexuality and using him as a prop to uplift mike’s imaginary gay storyline, speaking extremely disrespectfully about his sexual assault trauma, i could go on.

and that’s just the stuff i’ve personally seen on multiple occasions. acting like your fandom is incapable of perpetuating homophobia or treating a canonically gay character horribly is insane, and just causes this mindset to go unchecked and get worse. will deserves better.
