They just use that language bc they say that not having everyone buy into their service is a loss of a customer they /never even had/ and are pretending they would have made money from those non customers

Streaming companies are trying to redefine what their service even is. It used to be you could make several accounts for $10/month. That meant a whole family or friend-group could share a single account even if they lived & watched separately.

Now these services are trying to claim that they only ever meant to sell you one account for that cost, and the other people were all stealing. They're essentially re-writing history to claim that things have always been this way, even as they cut the utility they're offering down to a fifth of what it used to be.

"Password sharing" was a feature, not a bug. That article could just as easily read "not charging all their customers five times as much is estimated to cost them several billion dollars" - it's simply not true, because if they try it, their customers will just leave.

what is the child annihilating zipline

in 2010, a camp counselor goon logged on to the somethingawful forums asking for help with the zipline he build from scratch, and with no engineering knowledge, that didn’t seem to be working right. when he tested it with a sandbag, it continued to gather speed during the entirety of the 143 foot drop (19 degree slope) until it slammed into the wooden platform at the bottom at a speed of 65mph, presumably creating a child paste that would have to be scraped off to be sent home. there were pictures.
