thoughts on zombie totty? i lovee the design from the hesokuri wars sets
Okay so I've heard of this AU before, but I haven't looked into it until now and OH MY GOOOODD I'm obsessed. As an avid zombie media fangirl (Resident Evil was one of my first fandoms and one my favorite franchises of all time) I have many thoughts. And we'll get to those in a second
But first... Todomatsu!!
At a glance, I'm very charmed by him. But that's my bias I think. His outfit is really cute, and I love when they draw him with that half-lidded, kinda-sleepy-kinda-smug expression. It pairs nicely with his constant " :3" thing. Though I will say- and this is probably just me being dumb- I wasn't sure if the upper left side of his torso was part of his shirt or rotting flesh. I realized it was flesh after zooming in, but from far away it totally looks like it could be part of his clothes. Not a bad thing! I just thought it'd be funny to mention...
Anyways. Visuals aside, zombie Totty is an interesting scenario for sure... Todo- to me- greatly values his personal independence/autonomy and becoming a zombie removes all of that. Almost instantly. And you're still not fully dead! He's no longer in control of his own body- instead driven by the base desire to maim, eat, and spread the virus. Something so monstrous doesn't fit Todomatsu's cute image at all.
...Which is why it's so good. c:
I'm gonna take some inspiration from 28 Years Later and say that in this AU, contracting the virus doesn't result in total death, but instead puts one's conciseness in the "backseat". Zombies are still people, can be cured, and have brief moments of clarity between aggressive fits. I think it's a decent enough explanation as to why Todomatsu still carries his phone around and seeks out cute girls.
All of that is to say- take away his freedom but leave *just* enough humanity in him to maximize mental torment. Because that is fucking hot. There are a million ways Totty could've turned into a zombie, and all of them must've been equally terrifying to him. Not only is he fighting for his life, but he is VERY much aware of his worst fear coming true; turning into a mindless husk controlled by forces he can't even properly comprehend.

Anyways... No-one asked but here are my thoughts on the rest of the set!
Osomatsu
Not my favorite design in the set, but I love when Hesowars references different folklore and the jiangshi is one of my favorites :) I think his attacking face his funny. I wanna draw him in Yoshika's (Touhou) outfit!
Karamatsu
I like his outfit, but I have no idea what this attack is supposed to be. Why is his head so big?? I think I'm missing some context, but for now- no further thoughts.
Choromatsu
I really like his attack, and I think it's funny how the game states he became "more agile" after he became a zombie. I think the series should have Choro doing wotagei more often. It's probably one of the few things he's actually decent at.
Oh- and bonus points for his anniversary image referencing the poster for 28 Days Later!!!
Ichimatsu
Okay. Ichimatsu easily has my second favorite design in this set. He's literally a direct reference to William Birkin and that is so cool wtf????? I love that uniform on him, and his beefed-up form is even better. I just love Resident Evil, and think it's funny when characters are comically buff.
This poster makes me so nostalgic...
Jyushimatsu
He can remove his head. Need I say more
Totoko
Totoko is always cute, but she's even cuter in her policewoman uniform. I'm pretty sure her character here is a reference to Jill Valentine from Resident Evil 3, since her attack includes a rocket launcher that vaguely resembles Jill's iconic weapon. Overall- I like her!!
Also- Atsushi is in this AU too!
I guess this proves that Atsutodo is #TogetherForever, even after death.
Oooh seeing you draw Atsushi... SO GOOD!! I love your art and style sm... thank you for sharing and I hope more people won't be as shy to publicly interact with your blog (I say this while being anon...).

As for your request, I hope I did an alright job lol! Though I don't post about him often, I really like Atsushi. I'm not sure how he ended up in this situation, but I like to think that it has something to do with money. Atsushi seems like the type to flaunt his car and luxurious lifestyle, but in reality- he's in debt up to his ears.

I can make the fart crimes skit deep ok watch. So todomatsu makes a comment about how people don’t change that easily after osomatsu promises he won’t fart when he shouldn’t anymore. todomatsu has come to terms with osomatsu’s selfish behavior but doesn’t accept or forgive it. (remember the pizza skit where everyone was just quiet after osomatsu made the “that’s just the kind of person i am” comment? And then they were like “by the way, we don’t actually forgive you for the things you do, we just have to live with it.”) over the course of the series, todomatsu has lost respect for osomatsu. Remember in s1 when he would sometimes say stuff like “wow the eldest brother really does have the best advice”? I don’t think he’s said anything like that since s1e24 when osomatsu gave him a black eye.
