after you watch Godzilla vs kong, do you plan make a fic to include the plot of the movie into your no kings,onlt monsters "universe" (it's the best word i have to describe it) or some sort of fic about the event's after it? i really just wanna see more of your work in that universe because i loved your red sprite series

Yeah kind of, but not in the way that you put it.

Do I plan to “make a (single) fic to include the plot of the movie”? No. Do I plan to use stuff we find out in the movie (new titans, new Monarch agents, biological details about Kong’s species, etc etc) in No Kings, Only Monsters as I continue writing fics? Yeah. 

There are currently... uh... eleven??? fics planned to come next in No Kings, Only Monsters/Red Sprite & the Golden Ones—and those are just the fics I have planned, it doesn’t count the whole mess of events that extend out past that point that I haven’t neatly divided up into individual fics yet. It would be pretty lame to have a whole-ass epic plot written out and then go “... but then after all that, GVK happened in this fic series the exact same way it did in canon, because apparently NONE of these big things that happened actually had any impact on the world significant enough to change the plotline.”

Like, I don’t know what the exact plot of the movie is gonna be because I’ve been avoiding spoilers, but for example:

If they present the setup as “Godzilla and Kong have to fight for leadership of the monsters specifically because they’re THE ONLY TWO STRONG ENOUGH TITANS and there’s a titan law that says the two strongest have to duke it out” then obviously I wouldn’t include that plot point at all in NKOM because Ghidorah survived KOTM which means there are three strong titans—so either it’d be a three-way fight or else Godzilla and Kong would agree to a truce so they can keep an eye on Ghidorah together.

Or, another example: if the exact setup is “they’re fighting for leadership because they have a personal grudge and Mothra’s next egg hasn’t hatched so she can’t tell them to chill out like usual,” that also wouldn’t work in NKOM because Mothra’s alive and well.

So at the end of the day, GVK probably won’t be incorporated identically into NKOM. Conditions in the fic series versus canon might be so different that Godzilla and Kong would never fight at all; or if they do fight, it might go very differently. At a minimum the world/environment around them will be very different, considering that the way I’ve been worldbuilding human/titan relations veers off in a different direction from how it was being handled in canon as of KOTM. I’ll know for sure what will be the same and what will be different after I’ve seen the movie!

Well, here's my initial line of thinking regarding adaptation. For one thing, mechagodzilla being controlled by the ghidorah skull means more in this universe because ghidorah is more or less playing nice, which depending on what has happened in the between years means either Godzilla and mothra are going to try and get him involved with the investigation or, more likely, trying to keep things under wraps, which brings up the hilarious visual of godzilla trying to be subtle. I haven't figured out what stops Mothra from telling the chen sisters 'hey, what the fuck' unless she believes makng them whistle blowers would put them at risk. So, godzilla destroys apex bases by essentially going up to other kaiju and going 'alright here's how this is going to go, you're going to attack that building other there and I'm going to beat you up and then you're going to help me search through the rubble, and mothra will apologise to you later. i won't, because I don't care about you on an emotional level, but do a good job and I'll let you get a few hits in so you can brag to your friends'. This still counts as weird enough so maddison, who you've made a different post about having an arc of falling down a potentially dangerous conspiracy theory rabbit hole like her mother, notices it and goes to look for Bernie Hayes.

Meanwhile the other plot happens because I don't think it's necessary for Apex to say they need the power source for godzilla killing, the monarch scientists would love to do some HEAV exploring, and since it'll be dangerous, and Kong needs a new home anyway because of the storm we might as well bring Kong along as a bodyguard. They might have already figured out he knows sing language because there's a goddamn youtube channel for learning Rodan's language, surely someone thought to teach the giant gorilla to emulate Koko. So, godzilla is swimming through the ocean humming 'don't be suspicious' when he sees a big monkey on a boat, and that's Weird, so he goes to check it out. With Serizawa and others still alive, and depending on how succesfull his 'subtlety' has been, the boats might not be stupid enough to fire at him, but there's still a problem because Godzilla doesn't like big monkeys very much because of Skar King emulating King Louie and maybe having heard of them hunting his kind in the past (or whatever the lore of godzilla kong conflict is to you) so he shows off a bit, calling himself 'Badass Fish' in his head and breaching beside the boat to make it clear that he's not to be fucked with. This is instead of immediately tipping the boat like in the movie but due to how big he is and how unstable the thing probably is it doesn't really make a difference. The fight continues and ends as usual except with Kong throwing the first blow because he went 'aw shit, big lizards, here we go again' and just socking godzilla in the jaw. Also the boats are still floating because either theyfigured out how to mimic Ghidorah's magnetism/anti gravity thing or it's the exact same boat ghidorah travelled on and the effect never wore off.

The reason Mothra isn't here to tak sense into goji is because she's on ghidorah distracting duty, so he doesn't realize humanity is fucking around with his ghost/clone(?) and goes on a semi justified rampage. To that end she finally accepted Rodan's invite to visit in a very awkward Guess Who's Coming To Dinner scenario. Also maybe Gigan is there too and hedorah the space bounty hunter shows up to puruse Gigan/ghidorah and keep all these characters from getting involved (I don't now why hedorah is a bounty hunter except for one Kid Cosmic And The Local Heroes OC I made who was the steryotypical Cad Bane/Clint eastwood style gunslinger except his power was goo).

The story continues from there except I have no idea what would happen next with mechagodzilla, but I imagine Ni in particular would be shook to see his longtime crushes ghost/clone(?) in the mechanical body of their greatest rival. The oly other ideas I have are Kong having met Rodan previously in some way connected to Camazotz and the storm ghidorah created and them actually getting along because Kong quite likes birds (as seen in the short animated series on netflix). Ghidorah is initially not very friendly until they learn that Kong punched godzilla in the face repeatedly and shoved a stick down his throat. Then they start acting like an older relative who is suprised to find themselves getting along with a son in law. Ghidorah may not know how to cook but they have incentive to learn now.

All right, imagine this: What if My Hero Academia took place just one year later on the timeline? Deku and Co. are in their second year of high school, the Big Three have graduated by now, etc., all other events pretty much happen same as canon, offset by one year.

So Kamino Ward happens, All Might retires, Endeavor is de facto No. 1 Hero for a couple months...and then Mirio has a meteoric rise in the charts and is named No. 1 Hero, just completely blasts him out of the water. Youngest hero ever to secure the No. 1 spot, first one to do it in his first year of operation, all the things.

Just the absolute horseshit of Endeavor having the No. 1 spot for like two months, it's not even official, and then he gets ousted by this newbie kid who doesn't have a single angry brain cell and is genuinely congratulating him on securing second place again and how impressive it is he's maintained his ranking for 20+ years, completely oblivious to the fact that Endeavor is about to burst a blood vessel. Meanwhile, Best Jeanist and every other veteran Pro is looking at him like, "Maybe you should think about retiring."

My not very good essay on why Bill Cipher and Sun Wukong have parallels

Alright, I feel like a bit of a dumbass only posting this now. I had the idea for this AU back when Thisisnotawebsitedotcom launched, since I had been reading Journey To The West at the same time, as well as being in the Lego Monkie Kid fandom, and I noticed a lot of similarities between these two incredibly powerful characters. This was fueled even more by the works of Ckret2, and since I failed to strike whilst the iron was hot, I will try to make up by latching onto their coattails by doing some light advertising. ‘Ahem.’

Very subtle subliminal messaging there.

But I was specifically inspired by Ckret2’s tumblr fanfic about the axolotl meeting Bill Cipher right after the destruction of Euclydia, which does seem quite similar to Sun Wukong’s encounters with the gods. A seemingly unassuming creature starts causing a lot of havoc and paperwork, and chaos ensues.

Both these misadventures start with a subversion of cosmic horror, where Sun Wukong has an existential crisis and goes on a quest for immortality, ckret2’s depiction of Bill Cipher was originally a strange cult leader/pageant kid hybrid who, with his ability to see into the third dimension accidentally ruined his life by having a casual chat with a multi planar amphibian. Both became leaders of their people and attained tremendous and cosmically illegal power, proceeding to traumatise the cosmic forces back. From there a bunch of divine politicians got involved, with some like Axolotl and the Gold Star of Venus trying to treat him fairly, some like Nezha and the God Cops trying (and failing) to overpower him, whilst the Jade Emperor and Vendor are just trying to prevent paperwork and complaints from the public. Also both want fancy titles, like King of the Dream Realm and Great Sage Equal To Heaven.

Both are also known for being able to shapeshift, particularly from a goofy, unassuming form (like a monkey or triangle) into a horrifying monster. They are even both affiliated with the mind, with Bill Cipher entering people’s dreams and possessing them, whilst Sun Wukong is an allegory for the powerful yet impulsive human mind. They were both born unusual to others of their kind, and I could easily see Wukong ending up the same way if, say, the waterfall on Flower Fruit mountain had too much pressure for other monkeys to jump through and survive, or there was something dangerous in the cave, like fumes or something, with Wukong’s desire to earn a place in the troop accidentally destroying it.

They’re also both frequently imprisoned in one way or another, and usually beaten through trickery or artifacts rather than being overpowered. They both lead a band of monsters (the henchmaniacs, the seven great sages) and had many servants.

Essentially I really want a Community service AU where Bill’s powers are bound/limited and he’s forced to help future reincarnations of Dipper and Mabel in a post apocalyptic/multidimensional quest ala scripture pilgramige. Maybe not exactly, to avoid sacrilege and casting Alex Hirsch as Buddha, but come one, they are so similar! Now for silly questions, @ckret2, how would Bill Cipher react to meeting a random triangle child who’s slowly inheriting his powers and has decided to become a superhero? What would he think if someone near perfectly imitated him? How much legwork is a hypothetical magic tiara gonna need if forced into a pilgramige quest to stop him killing people or will he initially play along? On the flipside, @quitealotofsodapop, what would have happened if young Sun Wukong accidentally killed his troop by leading them into the cave? Or if the buddha trapped him forever on Flower Fruit mountain instead of underneath one?

Now hold on. I think you're on to something here. Even setting aside the direct allusions to my fic here you could make a strong case for parallels between Bill and Sun Wukong. Based on what little we know of GF's canon divine mythology you could easily cast the Axolotl as Buddha. Go on Bill you lil shit just try to escape my palm. You can't. You suck. Loser.

And the fact that the Axolotl's way of helping Bill is pushing him into a harsh "trial" that requires mastering his own mind and ends with reincarnation... Put in a Buddhist framework the fact that the highest reincarnation Bill's currently being offered is a butterfly says something about his current state of enlightenment + morality. Buddy you fucked up so hard even AFTER therapy you're gonna be working off Weirdmageddon for so many lifetimes.

The mountain Sun Wukong's trapped under is the Nightmare Realm.

Whoa, that was fast. Does this mean @ someone's name actually does send a notification or did I just get lucky? I did consider the specific parallels between canon Sun Wukong and Bill Cipher, but I had 3 reasons to specifically mention your fic. A), it did play a major role in causing this realization B) I wanted to ride your coattails since I didn't strike whilst the iron was hot when I first had the idea, and C) I wanted to be the helpful kind of parasite, like a pilot fish, by potentially attracting more readers. Ah well, my questions still stand. Bill Cipher seems to be currently wondering (read dreading) if his powers are GONE gone or just locked away somewhere. what would his reaction be if some random kid started manifesting abilities suspiciously similar to his own with the gal of being a superhero. i don't know if it would be more interesting if it was a human kid or a triangle kid from one of the shape dimensions that didn't get caught up in...you know what. Nowhere near as powerful as him, but he can see the similarities you amphibious fucker!

A thread of all the Black Mass monsters I've done so far

One of the many things I love about this art is the differences between several of the monsters. yes, there's an overall style, but godzilla, kong, mothra, gigan and ghidorah each have a different look because they are different things. It's one of the things I find really interesting about the early godzilla franchises, some of the kaiju are mutated testaments to humanity's hubris, some are alien weapons, some are vague ancient species no one's willing to explain, some are cosmic horrors and some are straight up gods, it's crazy variety and I would love to see some designs, like these, that reflect that.

What is Gohan's relationship with martial arts? There are some who believe that Gohan might enjoy fighting more than he is willing to admit, but I don't think Dragon Ball carries a tone that is serious.

For Gohan, it's an activity he can do with friends and family. He has no real interest or passion in martial arts itself, but most of the people he loves are martial artists to varying degrees of dedication.

Chi-Chi technically is, though she's never shown that side of herself to him. But Goku and Piccolo are serious martial artists. So is Krillin. These people defined Gohan's childhood. Then he got older and fell in love with Videl, another martial artist.

So Gohan is exposed to martial arts through the people he loves. He doesn't have a personal relationship with the art. He knows a lot about it. He's familiar with some techniques and strategies that they've instructed him on. But it's never really been his passion.

For him, it's a social device. It's something he can do to spend time with them. Left to his own devices, he doesn't really care for it. He doesn't train. He sticks with Piccolo and Goku's techniques, and doesn't try to create or master any skills or moves of his own. He has no intention of developing his own art independent from theirs. He's not really a martial artist.

But it's like. If you grew up in a family that all plays golf, and so you go with your dad and uncle and grandpa to the golf course. Not to play golf. It's just. It's the family activity everyone enjoys, and you want to spend time with them so you go do it too.

Gohan doesn't have a relationship with martial arts, but he'd never pass up a chance to go a few rounds with the people he loves. Because it's the family activity.

Yeah except it turns out that he has the potential to be the Very Best at golf, and random dipshits keep showing up and challenging him to golf offs or else they'll kill everyone he cares about, so that probably sours things.

Not so much a headcanon, but I do think about Future Chi-Chi a lot. She gets overlooked so often, but she lost literally everything. Her husband, her baby boy... just breaks my heart.

Does it make it better or worse that she probably retook the way of the warrior and fought the androids herself at some point? WAIT HANG ON, how the hell did Zamasu end up in the trunks timeline? I don't even bloody remember because of how convoluted that plan was, to be clear I don't hate Zamasu the character, I personally found him and the concept interesting, the mystery angle, but christ that plan was convoluted and dumb, how the hell did he end up in a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TIMELINE! He wished to swap bodies with Goku, but Goku was already dead in Trunks's timeline! Urgh, I just wanted to think of Punisher Chi Chi, why did this come up.

1) Sokka is Ser Duncan the Tall (lovable himbo who is sincerely doing his best, but is constantly facing setback after setback)

2) Aang is Egg (obviously. I guess in this AU, Aang is actually from the Fire Nation. Or maybe he’s half Air Nomad, which means the Dyanna Dayne equivalent is an Airbender lmao)

FUN TIMES WITH UNCLE DICTATIOUS >:D !!

We’re getting more of Dictatious galandrial in the growing pains au !! Specifically of the dude being a uncle to Troll Jimbo >:D 

One of the things I want to explore, it’s how Dictatious would behave/act at first. I feel like he would try to suck-up those around him and to be as useful as possible, but it’s less of a manipulation tactic to gain and use their trust. And more of a survival one, because that’s what saved his hide back in the Darklands

It takes the green troll a while to grow out of that mindset, to realize he doesn’t need to be in survival mode 24/7, but yeah !! He might be on very thin-ice with his brother, but he’s not gonna get throw-out and have to fend for himself or anything like that (kind of heartwarming, when he realizes that Blinky still cares about him, because that’s when it really clicks). And once he knows that he relaxes and becomes much more genuine and fun to be around

Also I’m giving him some of toph’s (from avatar) gremlin energy >:D !! Like, Troll Jimbo is really strong for his size/age, plus there’s the fact that he’s still growing and getting stronger

And what does Dictiatious do ? He absolutely takes advantage of that !! Wherever there’s a new troll arriving at the rebuilt trollmarket, he hypes up Jimbo and says that there’s no way the newcomer can beat his nephew. And the poor unsuspecting arrival assumes it’s just a case of an uncle being way too proud of the youngest family member, it’s also something they assume because Dic’s blind (Big-Mistake)

They end up making a bet (usually involving used-socks). While he may not be able to see their absolutely gobsmacked faces, he’s can still hear when they grunt from the struggle AND when losing the arm-wrestle to his amazing nephew >:D

And of-course he shares the bounty with Jimbo, or if he still doesn’t like socks at this point in the story, his uncle trades for another snack the blue troll likes more

Dictatious begins to thrive in his new life !! Maybe a little too much even >:D

the duo of-course hides their "business" from the other adults. They’re almost successful, until Strickler finds out about it !! But he doesn’t want them to stop or give them a lecture, he wants in >;D !!
