I REALLY don't wanna talk over survivors, but at the same time I wish there was more talj on how fetishized identical siblings are (and seeing how any identical siblings become popular fandom ships, it's surprising common) , and how it's REALLY disturbing when you are one.

yes i feel hat survivors should have their own safe spaces and non survivors really shouldnt intrude on them and generally be an asshole but STILL there are many many people with siblings/identical siblings that are disturbed at all this incest just thrown around within the fandom and as someone who has a sister its really hfdsuygfkhkb

I'm glad you made this blog!! Pretty much all of the anti m/atsucest blogs are run by survivors, and it's important to know that you don't have to have suffered abuse to be disgusted by these gross ships. Keep it up!

yes, incest being considered inherently bad is a product of what society has taught us. of course it is. we are taught almost everything by society! and sometimes, this isn’t a bad thing!

incest is often associated with abuse. familial power dynamics are incredibly different from non-familial power dynamics, in that being only a few years older creates a huge dichotomy between the roles of two siblings / cousins / related family members. even a couple of years between people can create a massive unbalanced power dynamic, and thusly an older sibling can incredibly easily manipulate or abuse their younger relative. 

of course it’s also considered bad because of the genetic aspect of it. this is what initially turned people off, and many people feel incredibly uncomfortable with this. society has taught us to be, and that’s fine.

the main issue is power dynamics, and how prominent they are in family relations. many people with older siblings / relatives within their generation are abused by their elder counterparts simply because they have more power over their youngers, and they can assert that power incredibly easily without any consequences. 

it doesn’t matter whether or not you morally agree with incest; survivors of incest need a safe space. they deserve it, and even if you think everything else is fine, incest cannot be condoned and normalized if it’s so heavily associated with abuse for many people. yes, our opinions on things can shift as we grow, but people deserve a safe space.
