If you’re referencing the section that I compared to It’s a Nice Place to Visit, Monkees in a Ghost Town was definitely the first episode that came to mind. I didn’t use it because they weren’t enough visual similarities. I tried finding episodes that used similar costumes, plot points, and/or scenes to Head… but that meant that I had to leave a lot of ideas on the cutting room floor.

For example, I only used Monstrous Monkee Mash because it seems like Head used a set that was inspired by the imagery in that episode. There were also a few very loose parallels I was able to make between the Mike-focused subplots in Head and Monstrous Monkee Mash, like the themes of loneliness and horror.

#as I mentioned in my original notes #there are so many references that I missed and decided to exclude #that’s what I really love about Head #the more you learn about the Monkees #the more you see the small references and parallels that were drawn in Head #intentionally or unintentionally

Just remembered the sequence in Head (1968) where all four of them kiss the same girl and the camera just lets you really watch each of them kiss said girl for a long moment... like damn... they really did that.
