M & M Mixes Volume 2 - John Morales
Loleatta -Dreamin John Morales M+M Preview I -Tunes Exclussive Tribute Mix by John Morales
John Morales was one of pioneers of the remix. He was primarily a disco producer who often did his own extended edits of tracks. This compilation is the second volume. The first is just as great as this. Particular favourites include his edits of Inner Life's "Caught Up" and Harold Melvin's "Don't Give Me Up".
Oscar 'N' Martin - For You
This is quite frankly one of the most impressive albums I've heard in a long while. Covers a heap of genres and styles but is always fairly sparse and full of soul with heavy grooves. They're from Melbourne. Should be touring Brisbane in July. Don't miss it!
Seekae - +DOME
Seekae - Blood Bank - +Dome by Rice Is Nice
Another cracking Australian release. Definitely the highest quality electronic music to come out of Australia in a long while. Should be super famous by the end of year. Their Brisbane launch was a definite statement.
Collarbones - Iconographhy
Kill Off The Vowels by Collarbones
A Sydney/ Adelaide collaboration of indie futurebeat awesomeness. We almost played with these guys back in April but the tour got postponed. Hopefully they make it to Brisbane soon.
Dream Kit - Future Tense EP
Soundcloud
Melbourne solo artist Declan Kelly making cosmic electronic disco. Recorded mixed and produced by James Cecil who will hopefully be doing the same for us later this year. Be sure also check out the Faux Pas remix of cosmic strut. It's amazing.
23 Skidoo - Urban Gamelan
Coup - 23 Skidoo
Highly percussive old school post punk. As the title suggests, there's a heap of dubbed out gamelan stuff on this record. I have been meaning to get this one for a while... it didn't disappoint.
Peaking Lights - 936
Peaking Lights - All The Sun That Shines from Not Not Fun on Vimeo.
Dubby dream pop with some nice looped beats and dense synths going on. Really impressive record. One of my favourites of the year so far.
The Wkend - House of Balloons Mixtape
Nimai and Ben especially have been cranking this. Really nice/ cheesy post R'n'B (whatever that is). Super lush and FREE to download here.
Total Control - Paranoid Video single
Total Control - Paranoid Video @ Victoria Hotel, Swanston Room, Melbourne (31st July 2010) from Carbie Warbie on Vimeo.
Excellent synth punk featuring members of Eddy Current Supression Ring, UV Race etc.
Tanner Ross & Sergio Santos - G-Things EP
Tanner Ross & Sergio Santos - G.Things [ Mothership ] by Tanner Ross
Awesome house track.
Factory Floor - (R E A L L O V E)
Kind of reminds me of HEALTH/ Boredoms but really housey.
We are so stoked to be DJing at our the launch of our BFF band Re:Enactment on May 14th at Woodland. We've played on the same bill so many times now it's not funny including our album launch back in 09. We'll be playing tunes in between awesome support acts No Art, and The Rational Academy. We'll also be doing and extended 45 minute set right before RE:Enactment take the stage. We will be offering a download of the mix set shortly after the show. Don't forget we are also DJing at Woodland this Thursday in between bands for the Aa (Big A Little a) and Rat vs Possum co-headline show. Tickets are now only $12! Get along, you will not regret it.
We are DJing at the Brisbane leg of this amazing tour featuring US band Aa ("Big A Little a") and Rat Vs Possum. It all goes down at Woodland on Thursday May 5th. We're currently planning a varied set covering a heap of musical territory including disco, krautrock, shoegazer, acid house, dad rock, abstract electronica, calypso, rnb, pop etc. Will upload a mix after the show. Also playing are The Rational Academy and Stag, two of our favourite Brisbane bands. Get your tickets here. Facebook event is here.
Happy Friday! Dennis Coffey's Theme From Black Belt Jones. Awesome song. Hilarious fight scene. Enjoy!
We are beyond stoked to announce that our next show will be supporting The Go! Team (UK) May 3rd at The Zoo Brisbane. Their debut album "Thunder, Lightning, Strike" is a huge reason we became a band so we are positively chuffed to be playing with them. Their live shows are amazing explosions of party. You can buy tickets here. YEAH!
