Feeling oily, but cute. My sister-friend’s company, Lavender T, is owned by a New Orleans native. Since Mardi Gras will be different this year, why not support a local business❓ Since crawfish is $75,264 per lb, these earring for you or bae will last way longer. 😜 Lavendert.com (at Chilly Gentilly) https://www.instagram.com/p/CKy_6TklJWg/?igshid=nj6oh5pklgar
#Repost @la.lavendert with @make_repost ・・・ All bundled up to not go parading. 😔 However, if you’re in the New Orleans, LA area, check out the ‘House Floats’! Local artists designed incredible work for homes instead of floats this year. NOLA.COM has an interactive tour on their site now for those of us that have to keep it virtual! 👶🏾History of the King Cake👶🏼 The Mardi Gras or Carnival season officially begins on January 6th or the "Twelfth Night," also known to Christians as the "Epiphany." A seasonal tradition, The King Cake is thought to have been brought to New Orleans from France in 1870. The cake is decorated in royal colors of PURPLE which signifies "Justice," GREEN for "Faith," and GOLD for "Power," honoring the Wise Men who visited the Christ Child on Epiphany. Each cake has a prize or fève (lit. 'fava bean') such as a figurine hidden inside. After the cake is cut, whoever gets the fève wins a prize. Today, a tiny plastic baby is the fève. Each person looks to see if their piece contains the "baby." If so, then that person is named "King" for a day and bound by custom to host the next party and provide the King Cake. #lavendert #shoplavendert #lavendertdotcom #shoplavendertdotcom #mardigras #kingcake #kingcakebabies #insidebutnotforgotten https://www.instagram.com/p/CKktkTtFzOi/?igshid=1xw1856bdv43p
#Repost @la.lavendert with @make_repost ・・・ Mardi Gras will be different this year. We won’t be parading and cannot gather to enjoy live music, but just like New Orleans always does - we will find a way to celebrate in a new way until we can dance together again! Our celebrating kicked off with making something beautiful to commemorate this quarantined Mardi Gras. We’ll be on zoom rocking our babies and checking out “float houses” on foot and by car. The babies are live now at LAVENDERT.COM! Search “Jewelry” on site. I was looking for a journal @walmart and ran across @piccadillyofficial ‘s The Story of my Life. I wasn’t looking to write my memoirs. However, this has helped me recall memories from so long ago, things I thought were gone. The writing prompts are very clear and simple. It’s been a fun, healing, inspiring, thoughtful process. You don’t need to “be a writer” either. On average, each prompt takes me 15-20 minutes. Each person is different, of course, and that’s okay. I’m not completing the pages in order. You may want to go in order or start from the back or whatever. It’s your world. I highly recommend this. #piccadillyinc #writer #write #writingprompts #writingheals #memoir #autobiography https://www.instagram.com/p/CKjzABHFau3/?igshid=1y0uy3zg2otyp
