“A letter from Mariyagi-san”
To those who love me,
Are you guys getting excited at TDC? Right about now you guys should be getting really excited.
“A letter from Mariyagi-san” is the title I used for mobile mails when I first became a kenkyusei. Since this mail can only be sent one way, I think I chose the title because I would be sending mail without receiving replies. The truth is, it was thanks to the title of this mail that my nickname became “Mariyagi”. I think there may have been many people who became fans of me thanks to this mail.
In the very beginning, people would say things like, “She will probably quit early”, “gyaru”, “can’t dance”, and “she can’t smile well”. But there were also people who would say, “I like that about you”, and hearing people say, “You’re cute when you can’t dance or when you’re a bit awkward”, gave me courage when I was unconfident in myself. As time passed I came to experience many things over many days, and before I knew it, I was being told by people that they liked my dancing and expressions, and I realized the growth that I had felt was also being felt by fans.
I was never good at appealing myself to others. Since I don’t put myself out there a lot, I think I missed out on quite a bit, and as a result, my fans probably felt disappointment and sadness. For that, I am sorry.
Voting me into the election, getting me that Stage Fighter CM were things that I was truly grateful for. Thank you. Thank you for finding me no matter where I was and thank you for choosing me out of hundreds of other girls. I don’t want you to all forget that I was once part of all your lives.
My dreams are high and I promise to be able to deliver good news and make you all proud of me. If you would like, please cheer me on after I graduate. Please support me from now on as well!

This means a lot to me because it is the reason I became her fan in the first place. I always felt that she had a good connection to her fans and was very down-to-earth. Her quiet awkwardness was charming. I remember one of the first times I saw her she was on a show imitating a seaweed or something (was that it?!) and the other girls were like ‘wtf are you doing lol’. Then as time went by I noticed she would try and speak up more in MC during LOD and other shows and it was evident to fans and appreciated. That time at sousenkyo when mariyagi said she went out and bought some votes for herself after she didn’t rank in preliminaries because she was worried, that was perfect. I would have done the same thing lol! When she eventually dropped in rank I also felt we were all on the same page. Disappointed but we did our best. She’s always been very genuine and I appreciate that. Looking forward to her future!
