Tyrus rant

What I really love is how TJ didn't make fun of Cyrus or insulted him when he heard him sing the swing song. He just went up next to him to swing. He was your average jockbully, you would have expected him to say something mean but he didn't. He really was nice to Cyrus since the beginning. There wasn't any 'mean to him because he likes him' bullshit or anything. A kinda popular trope with boys. Especially athletes. There was no toxicity. Like with the somersault. He laughed (probably) because when he heard 'physical issue' he didn't think it would be something small like not being able to do a somersault. Then he immediately went 'I can help you with that'. Their relationship is the purest, most genuine, built on trust, and they bring all the good out of eachother

I knew this episode was going to deal with racial stereotypes and I was excited for that, but I was actually shocked when Andi was venting about it and actually used the word “Asian” multiple times. Based on last week’s promos I knew that’s what they were going for, but I guess I didn’t expect them to be so direct about it. Especially considering both of the previous episodes that incorporated racism (Buffy’s hair & Metcalf’s social experiment) failed to actually mention race. I’m so glad they were allowed to bring the conversation out of subtext for this.

Other things I really appreciated about this storyline: Buffy and Cyrus could have easily responded by listing off their own experiences with stereotypes (being black and Jewish), but they didn’t. Instead, they just listened and validated and supported their friend. I really appreciate that we talked about racism without actually majorly victimizing anyone, but instead focused on the “little” things like shitty stereotypes that are far too often overlooked or excused, especially among kids and teens. And I also love that Andi was allowed to solve this problem for herself. She didn’t get parents involved, she didn’t make her friends help. It was about her finally being seen, so she did it on her own.

Uhm, okay. So remember when my account got terminated by tumblr two weeks ago? No? OKay. Basically, something happened with the post that had the link for the Andi Mack episodes I uploaded, so I am sharing it again.
