INCREDIBLE to exchange feedback with someone in a mature way. To give and receive critique when there’s mutual respect and both parties’ first desire is not pride but improvement of the project, the skill, the product, the art.
When someone is EXCITED to hear your feedback EVEN if it’s critical. When you get excited to hear critique because you know it’s going to push you to improve.

“You write the beginning and then you go back and rewrite the beginning, and you never got off page one. It’s kind of a syndrome, and I have a rash piece of advice which is — Go on, page two, page three, and never look back. Get something finished, no matter how lousy it is. […] Perfectionists cannot get going unless they kind of do violence to their own instincts, and just blast ahead.”
— Ursula K. Le Guin, The Last Interview and Other Conversations
@proletarius-ex-machina almost cried during project hail mary because he thought rocky would die. Not me tho, I have been living in the land of spoilers for the past months.

just saw a pigeon doing the puffed up courtship dance thing to another pigeon, and as he was strutting around he suddenly stopped for a split second to do a very brief preen-peck at his own side, then returned to the strutting around. and i surprised myself by instantly losing respect for the male pigeon in that moment, like come on man i appreciate you had an itch or whatever but how is she supposed to feel special when you're getting distracted by bullshit like that? which on reflection i don't endorse, i mean those are pretty harsh dating norms i'm imposing on these pigeons, from a total outsider perspective, for no reason. probably not all girl pigeons are as uptight about that sort of thing as i would apparently be if i was a girl pigeon, maybe she even found it endearing who knows, i don't know her. it's none of my business really. sorry pigeons.
if i dont respond to a message from you i can basically guarantee its not because i dislike you. im just getting attacked by imps and shit all the time genuinely.
So I watched heartstopper forever yesterday and to be fully honest, I found it derivative and what they tried to sell as maturity often seemed to me as platitudes. I found storylines I was interested in rushed and underdeveloped and I'm glad they finished the series instead of trying to beat more monet out of it. That being said, my criticism comes mainly from not being the intended audience anymore and I still spent half of the movie crying because I found it touching and had heartstopper existed when I was 16 it would have been completely lifechanging. I'm very glad it exists :)
Also, Kit Connor's acting carried the movie to be honest.
I think I should start bragging about my adopted son’s achievements when people around me start bragging about their kids. Ooooh your child can count to 10 in mandarin? Well, my child found 110 landmines! And he’s only 6 years old!
