hi im splash! im not super new to toonblr but i dont oft post. alec tinn's my favorite guy and i only play ttr! you can find me as Splashtail or certain other toons...

so glad to see another ttr fan interested in the foreman! my partner's toon's main cog x toon ship is with foreman, and we both love him!

but i did want to ask about the aforementioned blog post with him going through workplace abuse? i'd love to see it and hear you talk about it more if possible

Oh I'm so overjoyed to receive this ask!! That's so sweet, I'm so glad you both can bond over him happily :) he means a lot to me (similarly) in a lot of different ways

The article I'm talking about is Supervising the Supervisors in that post, harkening to this specific excerpt;

I dunno. You see a guy get obliterated in an article with little to no repercussions for the person who did it, acknowledging he's small enough in the chain to be replaced in such a brutal way .. even if it's silly and this Factory Foreman was kind of a jerk, it's really interesting.

He has a really unique position in game, a Foreman's job is to make sure people are safe on the jobsite and upkeep the quality and make sure people know what they're doing. The one in Toontown, that they have to pick has to find a "balance" - how to cut costs while simultaneously not losing so many cogs with unsafe practices that it makes them lose money. Which puts him in a high pressure high stakes position, which higher-ups can show up to (as shown by the article) at any point and make scathing remarks at and "deal with him" for being fed up with their attitudes even though he is also a "boss"...

It just leaves a lot of room for interesting interpretation of cog society and what it means in-between the lines of story regarding a specific update and the space you can play in. Obviously in text it's probably not *that* serious, but I've always enjoyed thinking about things too hard.

prattling on in a server and i realized i can share what ive written here too.. aghhh my opinions on the foreman are skewed heavily by one of my partners because like obviously the way the managers act and are personified can be skewed by anyone viewing them in any certain way. im taking it with a grain of sugar; some foreman are optimized leaning more towards maintenance and some are optimized more towards being against it for cost cutting; cogs seeking a "sweet middle" is something thats a headcanon more than anything but one of the many duties of a foreman is making sure your crew is safe and capable of what theyve been assigned to; but no matter what its hard to ignore the factory foreman takes the brunt of certain stuff within articles he appears in. replacements or not. because the foreman makes sure the factory is safe a lot of the time..... and in a setting where you have to cut as many corners as possible? weighs on you heavy. too safe is too slow, but not safe enough, you're losing too many useful cogs and it gets more expensive to make more. having a foreman (at least one iteration of him, though a lot of people talk about him being like, the cog bosses that even if they are replaced theyre sort of off-limits for being different and stuff and usually hold the same personality) be convinced to unionize with the toons? its really interesting!!!! and having a toon with a notably unusual in toon society job that leans on being "boring" whos loud and boisterous until hes not, be pushed to the front presented with interacting with a cog in a serious, hard place, who, his whole job is convincing people to get out there and do something, is so interesting, being the one to convince this cog to change his own story, and have his own opportunity to be a person instead of just... you know, a cog
