conformitygate/Mike gets vecna'd but the vision that vecna puts Mike in lasts for decades. Like Mike grows old, maybe even marries and has kids. He becomes an author, he writes a famous novel, everything. he lives an actual, semi-fulfilling life, and it feels so real.

so when the Party finally free him, Mike is terrified and distressed, because now he's 16 years old again, and everything he thought he knew for the past like 40 years suddenly is proven to be fake. he never grew old, he never met the people he met, he never wrote a book, he never graduated, etc.

and this extends to others too; sometimes Mike mentions or asks about things that never happened, stuff only he remembers. he'll bring up a funny moment and everyone stares at him in confusion until Mike remembers it was just part of the elaborate illusion.

if he did have kids in the fake world, maybe he cherished them to the point it feels like he actually lost them, and now he's grieving them like they were real. he has painful dreams of this life he was so sure he lived.

I’m in the club of that, if Mike wheeler was AFAB, whether he’s a trans man or she’s a lesbian, they would probably develop an eating disorder

we can already see in the show that Mike has some disordered eating with his anxiety

and, it’s not a necessity by any means, but I could definitely see that being increased if he/she was AFAB just do to the culture that ppl who are socialized as girls have to grow up in

she would feel like she can’t “truely” be a girl in some aspects (liking other girls/Willow, most of her interests being perceived more so as masculine) so she would feel pressured to “look more like a girl.” So not only would she restrict her eating due to anxiety and the loss of control in her life, but she would also restrict in a desperate effort to still fit into social norms in some way.

he would feel like he’s in a prison, he hates his curves, hates his chest, and hates the fact he bleeds every month. That paired with all the other effects of a loss of control in his life, he feels like restricting his eating is one of the only ways he can re-gain some control. After all, if he doesn’t eat enough, there’s gonna be no fat to go to his chest or his thighs, making them smaller, and there’s a chance of his period stopping all together (he’s ignoring the fact that means his organs are already shutting down)

obviously it’s not a necessity, I just feel like it would be an interesting angle to try and explore (and also kinda make sense)

this is such a good breakdown of mike meeting numerous criteria for autism. to add on to this, mike very clearly has special interests that he talks excessively about even when others aren't interested (like trying to talk to el about star wars in s1 + using dnd references to comfort her in s5 which she rebuffs). he struggles deeply with emotional expression, either experiencing outbursts or complete shutdown where he appears unusually stoic/cold despite experiencing inner turmoil. he is shown to have issues interpreting sarcasm ("oh, you were being sarcastic" to suzie in s4). even a small detail like him eating scrambled eggs with syrup could point to safe fooding!

to me, it's not even a headcanon - mike presents SO clearly as autistic
