On Debilitating Depression
The last blog I wrote was on October 19th and before starting I want to address why I haven’t written. My last blog post was about mental health and I mentioned a few times about not wanting to exist. Depression does that. I don’t know who, but that blog entry was relayed to my past supervisor and director of the center I worked for. I was thrown for a loop because I very purposefully didn’t have…

Hello friends. As as many of you know I was admitted into Cal State Fullerton and will be working on my masters in Higher Education and I'm super excited for it, however this is probably the most help I need right now. Because I got my name legally changed I had to submit other documents for...
Hello tumblr friends and followers. it's pride month and this is currently what i need from my fellow community members and ally's!!
I got accepted into California state University, Fullerton for graduate school. I'll be pursing my M.S in Higher Education. But becuase i had my name changed (I am trans) my financial aid is taking longer to process And it's harder to budget. I'm currently working over 50 hours a week with two jobs to save up a month or so of rent. I feel all works out I'll have a second a place before by July the rent is a bit out of my out of my budget but it's a great place and sib for the most part open to animals (I have two emotional support animals). Currently I'm fundraising to save up for the security deposit and half the rent or more if possible for July and I should be fine but currently I don't have that saved. I've been fortunate enough to live with my partner the last year but their lease is up at the end of June and If I'm unable to secure this place i’ll risk being homeless (my family is in the Bay Area in i have much to fall back on). I've been homeless before and it's not something I want to go through again. any donations or sharing helps a bunch.
Please help thins QTPOC femme survive And secure housing!
(If 20 people donated $20 ill be at my goal!)
When You Think Your Partner is Falling Out of Love with You.
When You Think Your Partner is Falling Out of Love with You.
This is a topic that’s been weighing pretty heavy on my mind for the last week-2 weeks now. I’ve been with my partner for 2 years 3 months 3 weeks and two days (because I’m a sap like that). We met at I think a really weird time for the two of us. We were both dealing pretty heavily with mental health, both trying to be part of an organization that honestly wasn’t healthy to be a part of in the…

why are the artists on ink master allowed to say shit like “i hate tattooing dark skin” like just bc you’re bad at your job doesn’t mean you get to be openly racist
indigenous artists have been successfully tattooing dark skin for thousands of years & here comes your white ass saying tattoos aren’t made for dark skin 👀
i love this. i do. and i’ll comment on it every single time. the very first artist i went to get tattooed was in Utah and the guy told me straight that color wouldn’t look good on my skin because it wouldn’t show up.
second guy i went to was in California and he said basically the same thing. Color wouldn’t look good on or show up on my skin. blah blah blah…
so months later, i’m at a tattoo convention in LA and i walk past a booth featuring tattoo artists from Taiwan and i see this BEAUTIFUL phoenix that’s just… amazingly brightly colored and beautiful and the guy asks if i’m interested and i said something about it not looking as good in black and grey and he asked why i don’t just get it in color and i said the color won’t show and he PLEADED with me to let him show me he could do it.
and he did.
and it’s fucking amazing and bright after almost 8 years now of being on my skin… all the pinks and teals and yellows and oranges… all of it. Still vibrant.
i went all the way to Taiwan years later just to get more added to it, and my leg done as well.
now, as soon as someone tries to tell me that they can’t put color on my skin, i disregard them and write them off. Sometimes (depending on how stuck up they can be) i go ahead and lift my shirt and show them my side (and now legs, and now arms) that are fully colored and vibrant and BEAUTIFUL.
and i hope it sets into their brain that just because THEY can’t do it, doesn’t mean it can’t be done.
Also… some of the people who have put the best color on me have been people who don’t normally work with dark skin (being from different countries where skin tones might be darker, but maybe not as dark as me) but they’ve been willing to TRY and they always succeed and that means a lot.
There is a whole shop of black artist in Atlanta that are dedicated to tattooing darker skin. The shop is called City of Ink. The owner is a black tattoo artist named Miya Bailey. It’s been open for 22+ yrs. check em out.
I just got a new tattoo, really small for a valentines day special and the artist wanted to use a light blue on the tattoo and said it never hurts to try and it came out pretty nicely. Tbh white folx or folx with super light or fair skin just don’t know how to tattoo darker skin and use “Color won’t look good” to cover up the fact that THEY can’t do it.
I play bassoon in our intermediate band and double bass in the senior band. The last time our school bands did a concert, there were I kid you not at least 4 White Moms™ that came up to me and yelled at me for playing “instruments not fitting for a young woman” and “setting a bad example” for their daughters. One of them didn’t even know what a bassoon was (she called it a clarinet the entire time) nor what a double bass was (she called it a “big violin”), apparently it was just bc the instruments were relatively larger…like ok chill I like bass instruments what’s wrong with that I’ll hit you over the head with my double bass
A schoolmate of mine who is a female trombonist was constantly advised to “dress masculine” (slacks, ties, etc) to “match” her instrument. She refused, and instead - especially when she went to give performances at public schools for young kids - she made it a point to wear pretty clothes and makeup.
One little girl asked her (if memory serves)if she could play trombone someday too. My schoolmate and told her (approximately), “You can play anything you want, and wear anything you want while playing it.”
This is the kind of lesson we NEED to be giving our daughters - that they can play whatever the fuck instrument they want to, and look however they want playing it. STOP teaching our girls that they can’t or shouldn’t play certain instruments because they are “masculine.”
INSTRUMENTS DO NOT HAVE A GENDER! Play whatever instrument you love to play and don’t let anybody stop you!
I play the tuba (I know) and when I started taking it more seriously, I was told that it would be very hard for me to make it anywhere as a girl playing a lower brass instrument. They told me I wouldn’t be able to wear a dress because I had to sit with the tuba between my legs, and that would be unladylike. So I turned up at my first big audition with a big flower in my hair, a floral summer dress and heels, and rubbed it in the face of all of those men that yes, I was a girl in a dress who sang classical soprano, but that also meant that I had better lung capacity than all of them. When I was at that audition, a girl came up to me who was playing euphonium (like a small tuba) and asked me if she could try my tuba because she’d always wanted to play, but had been told that it was for boys.
Instruments aren’t gendered. Boys can be amazing at flute, girls can be kickass at tuba. Play whatever you want and have a great time doing it.
Her face.
She represents black girls everywhere.
a disturbed loc nation in one shot
^^^Yo, I used to work with this one woman who had SUPER long locs, she had to keep it up just so it wouldn’t go past her thighs (she was extremely petite, too). Anyway, this white girl (who was generally a decent person) one day walked up to the loc lady, reached out to touch her hair and the lady recoiled back and was like “DO NOT. TOUCH. MY HAIR.” The white girl’s’ reaction (said to me): “I don’t know why she got so defensive, her hair must be falling out or something for her to not want me to touch it that bad.” Happened like 3 years ago, still cracks me up to this day.
True story, I almost swung on this girl who came up behind my and put her fingers in my hair when I was in highschool. You gotta ask and 80% of the time imma say no.
^ smh lol that’s ok, let them get hit, they gone learn.
I swatted a customers hand reflexively cuz she reached to touch my purple havana twists… Im not a petting zoo and hair is sacred to us. Her mom was looking at her like “bet u wont do that shit again, huh?”, which confused me
When I first started to wear my natural hair out in the cutest lil curly fro in human history this COMPLETE stranger standing behind me in line at the grocery store decided to stick her grubby white paws in my hair. She honestly looked shocked when I turned around and gave her ass the “the fuck you doing” look. Why do white people think they have ultimate authority to black bodies?????
This might be my favorite post hahaha
I WAS LAUGHING SO HARD YO BECAUSE DON’T THEY KNOW IT’S SUPPOSED TO BE THERE???

But I need to come to the U.S for a tatt!!! Oh my goooosh 😍😍😍😍😍😍
You know how I know this finna be extra on point? Because ain’t but ::datmany:: roles for Black folks in big budget Hollywood movies in the first place. You KNOW every Black actor with a reel and a headshot went out for this, so they literally had their pick of talent.
If y'all don’t turn out to see this Black ass movie when it comes out, I’m personally revoking Potato Salad Rights at all y'all’s cookouts until 2025.
(Also: let’s all send up a quick prayer to whatever ancestors or deities you believe in that everyone can get their accents on point because you know when Hollywood tries to do Africa………)
If everyone shows up for this, they might be able to buy out the rights to Storm/Ororo Munroe and do a tie-in… y'all think of the Black superhero franchise this could kickstart.
Black women are the most educated group in the country. In case you forgot that fact, there’s #WomenWithDegrees

On the twenty-third day of the month of September, in an early year of a decade not too long before our own, the human race suddenly encountered a deadly threat to its very existence. And this terrifying enemy surfaced, as such enemies often do, in the seemingly most innocent and unlikely of places.
