Maybe they don't exactly, but Hua Cheng figured out how to dial up the touch receptors in a given area really high, so any area can become an erogenous zone. When they have sex, Xie Lian gives Hua Cheng admin-level controls over that function

Ooh that fits super well with Xie Lian's chastity/purity thing! She was designed to not be able to experience sexual pleasure, but Hua Cheng said "fuck that, literally"

I think Hua Cheng started out as a human, who brand-new-at-the-time robot Xie Lian saved somehow. Then, as a parallel to canon Hua Cheng's first death, she uploaded herself into a robot body to keep living.

Xie Lian is definitely XtF or MtF because why would I miss that opportunity? Hua Cheng, on the other hand, is like "I was assigned curse at birth. Lol. Look jiejie, a distraction"

Hi! I love the idea of the virtual event. I am hoping for help to figure out if it's an event that makes sense for me and my system to attend. We like various kinds of femslash, of course, or I wouldn't be asking, but our fandoms are for danmei (a type of BL), so I worry that we're not the target demographic/won't connect with anyone.

So, may I ask whether genderbend, trans genderbend, or canon women from TGCF and SVSSS are significantly represented in the event? No worries if not or if you don't know, and thank you!

As far as I know, our confam doesn't currently have anyone who ships danmei / BL. But I am going to publish this response in case they shout out that yes they do, or if there are others in Tumblr land who are interested in both our con and this fandom!

throwing my hat in the ring with canon!girl xie lian theorizing because i've realized my opinion isn't the commonly held one

i think, if we're imagining an AU where TGCF is mostly* the same but xie lian was afab, it would necessarily still mean that she would have become a "serious cultivator" as a teen and rejected offers of marriage. if her parents were that permissive(allowing her to do that) I don't see why they would have forced her to be SuperFemmeGirly because presumably she would have been more.... almost nun-like, because she was choosing chastity and religious dedication. ergo, i think her upbringing would actually have involved her being "not like other girls" because she was strong, and by denying her womanhood she could escape marriage + instead become powerful enough to ascend

so of course her martial prowess would have still been exceptional, and i think she absolutely would have retained her gentle personality(it aligns with canon-- everyone always sees the flower in her hand and forgets she ascended because of the sword)

to me, xie lian has very accomodating and kind behaviors, and just dresses.... simply, in practical clothes that signal he's a cultivator(in regular tgcf). so she would just be doing all that stuff as a woman instead? & i don't think a woman being "practical" is an un-feminine trait.

and it's kind of important to me that in regular TGCF, xie lian's arc w/ hua cheng involves him learning it's okay to trust someone with his tenderness and his well-being(when he's used to it being overlooked), so i think in girl!tgcf AU it makes sense to me that hua cheng would be the first person in years that xie lian can trust to see her femininity without it turning into a "youre a weak girl" type of circus. she can finally, finally, be both a woman and powerful. AND get to make choices about herself without others pressuring her

*when i say mostly the same i mean all the same plot points and arcs, as "unchanged" as it could possibly be while still allowing xie lian to have been assigned a diff gender at birth/be a diff gender

it seems to me that a lot of people are really attached to the idea that fem! xie lian would be "masc" as a sort of reaction to having been a Girly Crown Princess ? i'm not mad that people have this headcanon because i do see it ...... but i don't really agree that it's the most "likely" due to her canon upbringing/life

Here is a list of all of the times that I could find where the word "lowly" appears in the official English translation of TGCF. Please excuse any mistakes. I had to sort through a whole bunch of the word "slowly" and it doesn't sound like a word anymore.

All my support to fic writers who make whatever choices they want, including following fanon, but I had to satisfy my own curiosity as to whether Hua Cheng ever self-describes as "lowly" in the canon (translated) text! It appears that he does not (though Xie Lian does). He does, however, call himself a bunch of other fun things at least hypothetically, like "the bones you need to trample on your climb" (vol 8, ch 130), and he declines to argue when Mu Qing calls him "disgusting" (vol 6, ch 93)!
