The Dark Crystal portraits; 2023. gum arabic, acrylic ink, and gesso on cold press illustration board.

still one of my favorite painting processes. ink is applied in darker and darker opacity over many layers of gum arabic, which is then rinsed off with water to reveal the image. I have video footage of me rinsing the gum off if anyone is interested.

It was the morning of the last (twenty-fourth) day of the trek. I was terribly reluctant to leave the sea. But before I left, I took several photos of the sages. This time, with two rounded stones I'd found the day before. Black stone and white stone, two stones.

From my smallest finds, stones with holes, I made shamanic beads for the Wanderer. And I braided four braids for his hair, also with stones.
