other tales, i went to ‘westmount square’ today, mies van der rohe’s northern outpost of steel, concrete, and black iron. the whole complex is absolutely stunning, even the carpark. i took some photos in the residence lobby that the security guard reluctantly let me enter. everything, the furniture, the marble, the chrome numbers above the elevators. walking away though you can see all the curtains, window-shades, and furniture put up against the windows. then you remember that in order to even see the furniture in the lobby you had to fib your way in. these things really should be public.
