Let's take a moment to appreciate just how amazing the title cards were for Batman the Animated Series.
Oh! I actually know what made these look so iconic!
The backgrounds for the entire series were done on black paper, a first for any animated show. It's Batman, which means everything is at night and incredibly dark. So, the majority of the backgrounds were going to be black anyways and using black paper would cut down on the time it took to create all of the backgrounds. Adding color over the black paper instead of the traditional method gave it a much more stylized look that helped make it iconic.
It also forced some other creative choices, such as using an airbrush to do all of the background art. During the early testing, they found that using an airbrush was easier to apply paint with than a paintbrush and that it looked better. Airbrushing let them be more experimental with painting techniques, such as the spattery fades you can see in the "Bane" and "Deep Freeze" title cards above or the soft, deeply shadowed face on "the Last Laugh." The overall effect of airbrushing on a black background is a much darker, moodier vibe than could be achieved with a traditional approach.
They cared very deeply about the art of the show and how they were going to create it. It wasn't just about the story or the character. In the words of co-creator Eric Radomski: "As opposed to making shows just to sell toys, we've made quality films."
i wasn’t gonna get involved with the whole “trans man gets a tattoo of a uterus on his back” discourse because i think it’s the stupidest thing i’ve ever heard but nearly every post i’ve seen about it has either been “trans men are too obsessed with their agab” on one side or “trans men are allowed to feel connected to their agab” on the other side and i’m just wondering if we all missed the part of the tattoo where it’s very clearly a depiction of being imprisoned by that particular body part, and given the state of both trans rights and reproductive rights right now can anyone maybe possibly figure out why a trans man might feel like that and want to express that?
like i really don’t think this is some giant conspiratorial secret TERF psy-op or whatever the fuck i think a random trans man that no one here will ever meet in their daily life got a tattoo of a body part that he possesses and has strong feelings about and trying to turn this into some kind of commentary on trans men as a whole and why we’re all actually agab-obsessed TERFs is genuinely crazy behaviour. you NEED to go outside and get a hobby I’m being so serious.
btw “actual feminism” is trans inclusive and op of this tweet agrees :)
becoming the oppressor is not liberation!!!!!
I didn't realize that this was about Project Hail Mary at first I just accepted that this was Ryan Gosling's fault and we have to kill him
If Conrad Veidt had played Dracula, I wouldn't want him to be another Bela Lugosi. I imagine a completely different interpretation.
My Dracula is not a triumphant predator, but a lonely prisoner condemned to eternal hunger and endless cold. He is always freezing, yet neither fire nor blankets can warm him. The only warmth he can truly feel is the body heat of the living.
To him, fresh blood is not merely food. It is like a bowl of hot soup offered to someone lost in a blizzard. Every sip brings warmth back to a body trapped in an endless winter, if only for a little while.
there was a post on here a year or two ago that was like "radfems think feminism is when women create a feedback loop to justify their harmful trauma responses" and I think about it every week. that one sentence helped me understand the abuse I suffered from my ex more than several dozen therapy sessions did. I hope whoever the op was is having a fantastic decade
my opinion on halsin is that he should actually be a bear and i have to do everything myself.
Hi, I'm Jack (he/him), a chronically poor trans hooker trying to keep his head abov… Jack Parker needs your support for Help a Trans Sex W
This fundraiser would allow me to take a few weeks break from this intense work schedule, pay off what I owe to friends, and to manage a slightly lower work load for the month after until I can begin selling sex regularly again to increase my income once my baby becomes eligible for 2 days a week of government funded childcare. Without this I cannot make next month's rent or bills.
I hate having to share so much person information to be considered worthy of support, but at the same time I know people are wary of being scammed and would rather not donate to people with other options besides fundraising. You can read the full details of my current situation at the GoFundMe link.
Please do not feel obligated to support if you cannot afford it and prioritize yourself first. I hugely appreciate any help and assure you that I will continue to pay it forward to the best of my capability in my work and with my own finances once things improve.
As with any time people have offered me financial help like this, I am extremely grateful. Funds raised so far are enough that I'm no longer in imminent danger of not being able to pay rent, which is the most vital part, and anything past this contributes to me being able to take a short break before I power through and can start selling sex as my main income again.
I love redemption arcs but even more I love forgiveness arcs. Yeah, you did that awful thing and it was terrible. No, you can't undo it. But you can still be loved.
Btw, that idea that privilege makes you morally evil and suffering makes you morally good is just repackaged versions of the Christian concepts of the evils of luxury and the holiness of martyrdom. Hope this helps!

it’s sooo funny when rude customers encounter employees who can deny them service for the first time.
i was working at a little cafe where I could deny service over bad behavior, harassment etc. & mask mandates had just ended a week before & already people were being weird about me still wearing mine—an N95, the kind shaped kinda like a duckbill.
so this man walked in, looked at me sooo scathingly, laughed at me, and said “damn. never known a woman to choose…practicality over looks.”
And I just said, “oh. you can go, you’re not getting a drink.” And he said, “what???”
I said, “sir, you just walked in at 6 am & called women impractical and me ugly in one sentence.”
And he was so astonished he didn’t even argue he just turned around and left 💀🙏🏻 it was like he suddenly became self aware
One summer I was running ferry rides across a lake so people could see the waterfalls without walking 6 miles when a guy snapped my bra strap as he was boarding the boat. So i immediately threw him off, he started yelling for my manager, my boss cheerfully informed him that, yeah, she’s the captain of the boat and she can kick off anyone she wants. He goes to storm off, looks expectantly at his girlfriend, and she just goes, “Well, I’M not walking six miles, Michael! I’ll meet you back at the car!” and sits right back down!!!!
The expression on his face when he was told that he couldn’t get on the boat, then immediately told that his girlfriend was ditching him? PRICELESS. he just blinked at her and then stormed off like a child. I gave her a free hat and was like maybe rethink this relationship…….
i once had this fucker come up to order a beer. while i pour it he shows me the wanky fucking chemical structure tattoo on his arm and he’s like “hey. you know what this is” i was like “nah sorry” (never cared abt chemistry in school, plus having to look at a some rando’s pretentious tattoo gives me the douche chills). he decides to respond with “heh. you must not read many books”
i immediately stop pouring his beer. i reply: “heh. you must not want this beer.” thirsty boy immediately starts groveling like a worm “please please no i do want the beer im sorry im sorry” believe me when i say it was one of the most pathetic things ive ever witnessed
gotta love people immediately backpedaling when they realise that there are Consequences To Being Mean
I genuinely believe that part of why it has become so normalized to be openly callous and evil in politics is that customer service culture has trained affluent people that they can treat everyone they consider beneath them however they want and still be treated kindly.
