Kobe Bryant has died in a helicopter crash, officials confirm.
NBA also confirmed that Kobe’s daughter Gianna Maria (Gigi) was also on board and died in the helicopter crash. They were traveling to a basketball game when the helicopter crashed.
An 18x all-star, 5 time NBA champion, dedicated father, and a true team player. It is with an extremely heavy heart that we mourn the loss of NBA legend Kobe Bryant—RIP
Over a 20-year career, he scored 33,643 points, and he retired from the Lakers in 2016. He is one of the greatest NBA players of all time.
Gianna Bryant was following in her father’s footsteps. In her future plans, Gianna was hoping to play college hoops for the University of Connecticut’s powerhouse women’s team, the Huskies.

In November 2019, Kobe Bryant and Gigi Bryant went to see Trae Young play. Trae said at that time: “I was told earlier this morning that he was coming to watch me with his daughter. It was crazy because he told me his daughter is a huge fan of mine and I’m one of her favorite players. It’s kind of crazy, because I’ll be watching her highlights, too.”
Today, Trae Young was really shocked to hear this heartbreaking news: “This can’t be real… 💔This is the Biggest example that life isn’t promised to anybody…sad day Prayers Up 🙏” He added later: “The Daughter Too?!? This can’t be real… This S*** can’t be real… this the first moment I was able to meet Gianna Maria, she’s been to only 3 games this year… 2 of them were mine… She told me I was her favorite player to watch 🙏 I can’t believe this 😭😭
