AFI show on Tuesday night was fucking phenomenal as always. Got a spot on the rail & Jade threw his pick at me (I fumbled the catch but shout-out to the guard who saw it happen and picked it up for me). Beloved little piece of plastic to sit with my SBtBS... matchbook. Lost my damn mind when they started playing The Face Beneath the Waves!!!! And now the countdown til the next leg of tour is announced begins. In the meantime, I have to listen to Silver Bleeds about 100 more times.

I was looking through my old art and on my money this drawing I made in 2021 is still one of the greatest things I’ve ever done.

It’s based on the song tied to a tree by AFI, and when I made the file I titled it ‘where we used to be’, because I misheard the lyric ‘where we used to meet’. The band had a little 3D point and click website made to promote the album, and there was a small gallery of fan art you could submit to and this ended up there.

This was really really cool for me, but then it ALSO ended up in a real life fan art gallery the band set up at the premiere of a little short film they produced. In exchange for my work being displayed they gave me any free merch item that I wanted (I picked a sweater because it was the most expensive thing) and a free ticket to watch the short film premiere on a livestream and hear a new song before anyone else. It was basically the coolest thing that had ever happened to me ever and honestly it still might be.

And of course I still think the drawing is sick as fuck and I’m super proud of it
